If you try something new, you might really enjoy it, even if it's filling balloons with Hot Wheels and throwing them off a bridge to see if they'll float. Try some Greek fare with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Greek dinner cuisine at Mykonos Taverna in Gahanna.

Mykonos Taverna's menu greets diners' eyes with authentic Greek fare, including the restaurant's specialty lamb dishes. Plates of paidakia brim with broiled lamb chops marinated in olive oil and spices alongside roasted potatoes ($14.95 for a half portion). Or try the chicken souvlaki, which skewers and charbroils pieces of marinated chicken before laying them atop a bed of rice with a duvet of grilled vegetables ($15.95). Others may choose to devour the spiced pork tenderloin with tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce in the Mykonos gyro ($6.95) or the lamb-kebab pita that grills its marinated lamb strips with banana peppers, onions, and a red and green pepper mix before glazing the doughy feast with house dressing ($7.50).

Patrons wracked with guilt for giving their gustatory senses too much attention can treat all the cranial nerves to a night out with Mykonos's live Greek music on Fridays and Saturdays. Live belly-dancing shows also take place amid the charming décor of a Mediterranean square bedecked with vibrant tones, false balconies, and traditional track lighting.

Mykonos Taverna

Painted with numbers and flanked by windows with blue shutters, the doors that line the interior of Mykonos Taverna resemble a charming view that one might stumble upon while visiting the restaurant’s eponymous Greek island. Owner and chef Christos Poulias wanted to give his guests an authentic experience, so he designed the interior of his restaurant to resemble an actual street in Mykonos. The effort to re-create the atmosphere of the island was so earnest that most of the decorations were packed up and, with Poseidon’s consent, shipped over from Mykonos itself.

The decor is not the only thing imported from Greece; a trunk of ancient family recipes made its way into Mykonos Taverna’s kitchen, and the chefs promptly revamped each dish to suit the restaurant’s modern, upscale feel. Among these are chicken souvlaki, gyros, spanakopita, and a recipe for lamb shanks directly from Athens. On Friday and Saturday nights, professional belly dancers complete the experience as they swivel their torsos, pop their hips left and right, and flash their legs through skirts made of warm pita.
