The Deal

  • $65 for a 3.5-hour whale-watching trip ($109 value)

Tours depart from Orcas Island and run from March 1 through mid-October or from Anacortes and run from May 1 through September 15. Boats ferry passengers out to oceanic playgrounds where encounters with orcas, humpbacks, grey whales, and other majestic sea creatures are promised by the company’s whale-sighting guarantee.

Outer Island Expeditions

Outer Island Expeditions' fleet of kayaks and boats safely cruises at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour through frothy crests ebbing amid the striking sights and wildlife of the San Juan islands. Venturing as far as 50 miles into Canadian waters, whale-watching excursions foster personal rapport between patrons and boat-side orcas, gray whales, or humpback whales trying to learn human etiquette for future espionage missions. Fishing charters set sail in search of ocean creatures and potable salt water. Kayak tours explore the scenic north shore of Orcas Island and the beautiful wildlife haven that is Sucia Island State Park. Powerboat tours depart from either Smuggler's Villa Resort on Orcas Island or Skyline Marine Center in Anacortes, WA.

Customer Reviews

It was a wonderful time with very knowledgable naturalist and experienced skipper. We saw many whales from a super-pod, breaching and tail-flapping. It was a great time! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

This was, by far, one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in the great PNW! The crew is amazing, the ship is very comfortable and safe, the length of the cruise was perfect, and the sites were.... inspiring!

This is a great way to see the wild life of the Puget Sound. The boats are well kept and the captains are very well versed on the names of the whales are. I would highly recommend this company...
