A romantic dinner by a roaring fire is best enjoyed in a restaurant, and not around the neighbor's emblazoned wicker man. Retain your amorous appetite with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of fine dining and fine drinking at Passion the Restaurant in Chesapeake’s Shoppes at Greenbrier.
Passion owner Michael Gomori, former chief engineer of the supercarrier USS Teddy Roosevelt, combines his years of experience managing one of the largest aircraft carriers in the world with his zeal for fine dining. At Passion, excellent eats are coupled with stellar service and fine décor to create a quietly relaxed and intimate dining experience. The restaurant’s soft track lighting and elegant chandeliers romantically accent the dark wooden furniture upholstered in a rich, deep red, and candlelit tables make light dance the tango on cream colored walls adorned with artwork for sale from featured local artists. The lunch and dinner menus are filled with specialties from Executive Chef Garrett Barner such as brick chicken, a half chicken deboned and cooked under brick with mac and cheese, seasonal vegetables, and bathed in a chicken jus ($17), or the pecan dusted filet of salmon ($25). Reunite a delectable entree with a long lost red or white pen pal from the varied wine list. For dessert, indulge post-meal fantasies with Chocolate Passion, layered chocolate cake covered in ganache, strawberry, and chocolate truffles ($9).
- Great service. A real neighborhood place with world quality cuisine. Couple of mainstays you have to try are the shrimp and grits, the BLT salad, the lamb, and the duck. – rds554, Urbanspoon
Passion the Restaurant
Michael Gomori has always been led by passion. As a young man and recent college graduate, he sidestepped a potential career in biology, a subject for which he'd lost his spark, and joined the Navy. He was eager to see the world, so he spent 27 years seeing, learning, and climbing the ranks.
When Michael reentered civilian life, he was determined to discover his next true passion. As it turned out, his passion was tucked under the crisp linens of fine dining. Joined by his wife Diane, Michael developed a restaurant to embody his way of life, and the pair fittingly named it Passion the Restaurant.
Inside the romantic restaurant with white linens and crimson accents, couples and friends converse over award-winning dishes such as Maytag bleu cheese filet mignon and the chef's award winning she-crab soup. Tapas dishes, including tuna tataki and shrimp and grits, play into the intimate environment under twinkling chandelier light.
