Reviews
New Haven Advocate readers named The Playwright the Best Irish Pub and the second best place for pub games in 2010. Eight Yelpers give it a 3.5-star average.
- By day, older locals sip on Guinness and snack on smoked salmon on black bread, at night drink specials make the Quinnipiac set say, "Erin Go Bragh," and the cozy environment makes it all worth the trip. – New Haven Advocate
- Go for the food. The menu is typical bar fare, but way, way better than it has any right to be. Onion rings, until I can prove it otherwise, are the best in the greater New Haven area. Juicy, crispy, fantastic. – Randy S., Yelp
