About Puget Sound Express
This tour allows you to experience all the Olympic Peninsula has to offer. Being the fastest guaranteed whale watch on the West Coast, you’ll have more time to explore Olympic National Park, Sequim Lavender Fields, Hurricane Ridge and much more. This tour departs Port Townsend both in the morning (10:00am) and in the afternoon (during the summer @ 2:30pm). Departing Port Townsend give us an endless opportunity to travel to see whales. Our range includes the San Juan Islands, Victoria or even the Puget Sound.
Our custom-built whale watching vessels feature comfortable inside seaing for everyone with a heated cabin, an outdoor viewing deck for wildlife, TV monitors for naturalist presentations, a snack bar and restrooms. Don’t miss our signature, freshly-baked “blueberry buckle.” Along our journey, the wildlife is endless from whales, bald eagles, harbor seals, California and Steller sea lions, tufted puffins and many other species of marine life. On-board you will have a trained naturalist that will guide you along the way and explain the scenery, geography, history and wildlife of the area.
For the Hanke family, it seems like Puget Sound Express has always been part of their lives. Raised in the Puget Sound his entire life, Pete Hanke honed his seafaring abilities alongside his father, Pete Sr. Together, the two started leading weeklong sailing adventures across the Pacific Northwest in 1981 and eventually started whale tours. Today, the business still remains a family affair, with grandparents, children, and grandchildren working side by side.
