What You'll Get
Contrary to popular belief, boats are actually much safer than cars, which inexplicably sink every time you drive them on water. Take a proper water road ride with today’s Groupon to Rivershore Charters, which has tours departing from the Town of Occoquan Wharf and Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton. Choose between the following options:
- For $25, you get admission for two for a roundtrip river cruise (a $50 value).
- For $5, you get a one-hour boat tour (up to a $10 value). Children 4–12 normally ride for $5 and children under 4 ride free.
Rivershore Charters' aquatic expeditions provide tourists and locals alike the opportunity to revel in the sparkly waterscape of the Occoquan River. All tours and cruises are led by a USCG–licensed captain skilled in driving Rivershore's 38-passenger, 50-foot commercial pontoon boat, which is divided into two sections: a glass-enclosed parlor for escaping the elements and an open-air bow for sun bathing and challenging sea birds to honor duels. During the roundtrip river cruise, which typically lasts more than four hours, guests set out from the Town of Occoquan Wharf and journey approximately 75 minutes down the river to Tim's Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse in Dumfries. Tour takers spend more than two hours lounging at Tim’s, where they can feast upon or chat amiably with the eatery's extensive selection of home-cooked seafood (food and drinks are not included with today's deal) and then make the 75-minute voyage back to the wharf and the workaday world of boat-less conveyances.
For time-strapped mariners, Rivershore also offers a one-hour boat tour, which sets sail hourly from Occoquan Regional Park from noon–5 p.m. every Saturday and from noon–dark every Sunday. Tour-goers can complement their watery journey by bringing snacks or drinks, or by purchasing beer or wine onboard.

About Rivershore Charters
Rivers are difficult to navigate without a watercraft or a fish tail, which is why the owners of Rivershore Charters launched their 50-foot pontoon boat, the Miss Rivershore, to provide customers an enjoyable way of experiencing the scenic Occoquan River, a river banked by lush, flourishing greenery and stately homes. Available for private charters, fishing excursions, and bird-watching tours, the Miss Rivershore accommodates up to 46 passengers, as it floats down the Occoquan.
During relaxed jaunts downriver, as eagles, ospreys, and herons patrol the skies or trick raccoons into selling their valuables for a song, the ship's captain relates historical anecdotes and intriguing tidbits about landmarks. As fans of the local food scene, crew members also happily ferry passengers to and from riverside eateries and can serve beer and wine onboard.
