An intimate bistro provides the perfect cover for a secret meeting of professional espionage agents, as well as a cozy setting for a high-risk "double blind date." Step into a world of tasty intrigue with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of creative Asian cuisine at Rodan, located in Wicker Park. Rodan serves its full dinner menu daily until 11 p.m. and its late-night menu until 1 a.m.

Rodan presents Asian bistro cuisine to diners and dancers seeking eclectic eats. Appetizers set the pace for Rodan's innovative updates of traditional Asian fare, with items such as sesame sweet-potato fries with curry ketchup ($6), wasabi-dusted fries ($6), and edamame hummus with crispy wonton chips ($7); spicy-tuna maki ($10) and veggie maki ($8) salute the sushi standards of the Far East. With starters finished, opt for one of Rodan's entrees—settle the score on a pig-related childhood trauma with a grilled porkchop ($14), slam into a slab of beef with the togarashi burger ($9), or swim in jungle curry ($12) with shrimp or tofu. Encore your eats with green-tea ice cream ($6) from Rodan's dessert menu and ignite your groove fire with a drink from Rodan's bar.

Rodan's atmosphere plays up the sci-fi scene-scape suggested by its monster-movie moniker with a stunningly designed interior of modernist features. Sharp fixtures and features, bathed in blue and bright light, provide a geometric order; woodwork walls and concrete floors balance each other out. Rodan beams in signals from the minds of video artists to provide game-changing visuals on screens, while an assortment of DJs sift through their grandfather's record collection for the ideal electronica, psych, jazz, no wave, and soul music. Get your Groupon and whisk yourself away to an exotic world of fare and finesse at Rodan.

Rodan

Much like the enigmatic, pterodactyl-like creature that occasionally battled and sometimes helped Godzilla, Rodan’s pan-Asian cuisine is delightfully unpredictable. The chefs draw inspiration from culinary traditions throughout Asia and layer the various flavors into complex tastescapes, filling bao with braised chicken and chipotle-spiced peanut sauce, spooning gelato alongside tempura-fried banana splits, and serving popcorn shrimp with thai chili oil, scallions, lemon zest, tempura crisps, parmesan, and a sweet onion vinaigrette. To complement the cuisine, Rodan mixes specialty cocktails with everything from Japanese whiskey to lychee fruit, and pours a sake selection that rivals that of any Japanese izakaya.

The kitchen stays open until midnight, allowing guests to enjoy a quick late-night bite at one of the modern, wooden booths. Meanwhile, live DJ sets keep toes tapping to soul and funk.
