Like a political sign, food mounted on a stick often captures the attention of passersby when displayed in one’s front yard. Show flavor solidarity with today’s Groupon to S & H Kebab House. Choose between the following options:

  • For $35, you get a Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean dinner for four (up to a $115.70 total value) that includes:

    • Four entrees (up to a $23.95 value each)

Chefs brandish skewers at S & H Kebab House to deftly spear local and organic meats, seafood, and tender veggies before searing the handy assemblage on well-stoked grills. The Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean menu encompasses a plethora of meatless soup, appetizers, and entrees to sate both vegetarians and stowaway rabbits hiding in purses. Commence an edible Mediterranean tour with a hot or cold appetizer such as fried calamari, creamy hummus, or tangy baba gannouj. Teeth menacingly tear cubes of marinated organic lamb, spiced turkish meatballs, or fresh garden vegetables from kebab domiciles. A spread of casseroles and sautéed dishes offers a creamy contrast to grill-heavy kebabs, and homemade turkish dumplings cleverly palm tender morsels of lamb and Susan B. Anthony dollars in their doughy pockets.

Warm tones of exposed, red brick, buttery yellow walls, burnished wooden floors, and outdoor seating craft a subdued atmosphere near South Street and highlights the exotic fare. Diners can pair refreshing sips of a favorite wine, beer, or moonshine imported from lunar distilleries with the exotic flavors in the BYOB dining room.

Leziz Turkish Cuisine

In a video for the blog Philly in Focus, Leziz Turkish Cuisine owner Sal Kucuk greets his son at the appetizer-prep station. He stops by the grill line to thank the head chef, who brings his own experience from owning a restaurant in Istanbul for 14 years. In the dining room, Sal stops for a moment to pay respect to his mother's framed image––a beloved photograph blown up by his fiancée as a gift. Formerly S & H Kebab House, Leziz Turkish Cuisine is still the same family-owned restaurant that was bestowed with Talk of the Town's Excellence in Customer Satisfaction award for 2010 and 2011 and the U.S. Commerce Association's Best of Philadelphia award from 2011–2013.

Specializing in authentic Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean cuisine, the eatery employs organic lamb, top Choice Black Angus steaks, and fresh seafood for kebabs and sautés. Amid hanging lights and butter-yellow walls, warm pita sops up creamy hummus and whipped caviar to pair with patrons’ BYOB beverages. Live bands on Fridays and monthly belly-dancing events fill the air with music, unlike the falafel-juggling mimes hired by most restaurants.

They have a brand-new place in south street and are BYOB. The food is excellent, the location, decoration and the attention are terrrific.

It seems like a perfect place for dinner on a less busy night. I'm curious to see how crowded/noisy it gets on weekend night.

It is a lively establishment! Do not expect a quiet dinner. BYOB is a plus. Turkish music and belley dancer round out the evening delights!
