Mankind's pursuit of fusion has lead to many discoveries, including the platypus, VCRs that can play iPods, and seductive-metal music. Touch tongues with atomically bonded edible items with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Latin cuisine at Sazón Latin Fusion in Culver City.
Sazón Latin Fusion draws inspiration from Central and South American culinary traditions to create fusion dishes featuring healthy ingredients. Chefs prepare the menu of international meals with soy-bean and vegetable oil to spare crossed-country taste treks of the leadening effects of grease. Teeth delve through layers of flavor in the signature Sazón chicken, a sweet core of plantain paste nestled inside a tender chicken breast and coated with a Mexican red mole sauce ($9.95). Vegetable-minded diners fork down leafy loads of calabacitas con queso, a vegetarian plate of seasonal ingredients ($7.95), or a Sazón salad of mixed greens topped with black beans, avocado, and a light dose of citrus vinaigrette, ranch, or caesar dressing ($6.95). Solitary entrees find culinary companionship in flaky potato or spinach-stuffed empanadas ($3.25) en route to a sweet denouement of Spanish natilla custard ($2.95). Breakfast is served on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Yelpers give Sazón Latin Fusion a four-star average:
- If your looking for something different and you enjoy Latin food, try Sazon now! Sazon truly lives up to it's claim of "Latin Fusion" food. On the menu you'll find dishes with flavors from Cuba to Argentina (and more) but are unique to this little hidden restaurant right in Culver City. I always know I've been to a good place when I can't wait to return to try other intriguing items off the menu. – Fred W.
- We tried a variety of foods ranging from the empenadas, to the chicken mofongo, ceviche, sazon chicken, and even ended up with three desserts (including the flan, which was my personal favorite). The foods were light and tasty, and definitely healthier on the spectrum of Latin foods. Along with the good food the service is, as Barney would say, "legendary!" The staff is very friendly and they are always checking up on you. – Mike N.
