Great historical building, nice museum exhibits before you get on the elevator. On a Sunday morning, we had the whole observation deck to ourselves! Beautiful architectual details in the Chinese Room.

It was a short visit, but we enjoyed some of the historical exhibits and the view. My wife liked the Chinese decor inside the Observatory Lounge.

So-ooooo beautiful! What a GREAT view of the city....and oh so different than the Space Needle or the Columbia Center! We had such a fun time and the food and service was REALLY GOOD at The bistro speak-easy at the top! Wow! A super place for both locals AND out if town visitors.

About Smith Tower Observatory

When it was built in 1914, the Smith Tower Observatory was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Though it lost that designation a mere 17 years later, the tower still captivates Seattle visitors with the Smith Tower Observatory. The 360-degree open-air deck wraps around the tower's 35th floor and grants panoramic views of the city's modern downtown and Puget Sound. Seattle's gorgeous surrounding landscapes are visible from the tower as well, with the majestic peaks of Mount Rainer and the Olympic Mountain Range creating a stunning horizon. Also, the journey to the observation deck is a treat in and of itself, beginning with the fascinating ground floor exhibits and continuing to floor thirty-five in the historic brass and copper Otis elevators. In the lobby itself, 22 Indian head sculptures watch over the onyx- and marble-paneled room, acting as precursors to the grandeur of the tower's top floors.
