Eating healthy food is the most effective way to feel refreshingly light, second only to training for a marathon or lacing your skin with feathers. Soar on figure-friendly fare with today’s Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and more at Soho Café & Grill in Astoria.

Soho specializes in a healthy horde of fresh gourmet sandwiches, wraps, breakfast fare, and more in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Early morning risers can pore over the menu, which features breakfast favorites such as whole-wheat and honey pancakes ($5.79), yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit and granola ($3.79), and three-egg-white wraps with scallions, tomatoes, and provolone ($3.49). Denver omelets ($7.75), folded with red and green peppers, ham, and bacon, are prepared on top of the Chrysler Building each morning in order to impart authentic mile-high flavor on gaping mouths far below.

Open until 12 a.m. every day, Soho ensconces mouths in fortifying dishes such as hearty lemon-chicken orzo soups ($3.59), grilled tuna-steak sandwiches ($7.99), and energy salads ($10.53), which pack an adrenaline-accelerating punch of spinach, sunflower seeds, black beans, cherry tomatoes, raisins, noodles, turkey burger, and asian sesame dressing. Customize a cavalcade of burgers ($4.79–$9.99), and choose between Angus beef, turkey, or veggie patties, as well as homemade white or wheat buns—all with a toothpick hewn from your choice of balsa wood.

Conveniently located beneath a fitness center, Soho lures the buff and spandex-clad with fresh fruit smoothies ($3.79+) and vitamin-rich juices, such as a mean, green concoction of celery, spinach, cucumber, and parsley ($3.79). The café’s casual atmosphere is blanketed in festively upholstered banquettes and chic lighting. Gaze at Soho’s mural, which depicts people eating at a café, and recruit fellow diners to reenact the tableau at your table, but with more lasers.

  • I promise to work out harder, drink their shakes, more salad...please forgive me....Soho just has too many spectacular selections. – Chris A., Yelp, 1/12/11
