About The 40/40 Club
Only four players have been accepted into baseball’s hallowed “40/40 Club,” and only by racking up 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases during a single season. But with 12,000 square feet of plush banquettes and tufted leather booths visited by plates of gourmet sliders and wings, The 40/40 Club is a little more welcoming. As a luxury skybox is to the bleachers, so is this Jay Z-owned lounge to a standard sports bar. As sports action stampedes across four 165-inch video walls and more than 30 55-inch flat-screen monitors, fans dig into high-end American-style fare such as braised beef short ribs and colossal shrimp entrees. These are complemented by equally lavish libations—even if you’re not opting for bottle service, bartenders can mix specialty cocktails heavy on fruit-flavored vodkas and champagne or withdraw a bottle from an 18-foot-tall illuminated champagne tower.
A dash of history is added to the up-to-the-minute atmosphere by the jersey hall of fame, which includes memorabilia from all four 40/40 Club players. Modern history-makers are just as liable to stop by: 2012 alone saw the club host album-release parties for chart-toppers including Rihanna and 2 Chainz and a fundraiser for the Obama campaign attended by the president himself, as cocktail napkins scribbled with drafts of the State of the Union address demonstrate.
