What You'll Get
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, humans cannot attain self-actualization without first tending to such basic physiological needs as water, sleep, and brisket. Achieve overall fulfillment with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of pub fare at The Derby Deli & Dueling Piano Bar, located in Mission Viejo.
Along with a set of dueling ivory keysets, The Derby Deli & Dueling Piano Bar houses a loaded menu, accentuated with thoroughly prepared meats and cold cuts imported from Italy. After swishing around homemade matzo-ball soup, meat-eating machines can sink their incisors into paper-thin roast beef ($12.25) or hard salami ($13.50) from the deli or items hot off the grill, including the Cyclone burger—two quarter-pound patties topped with american cheese and thousand-island dressing ($10.95). Patrons can joyously high-five as they taste the products of the five-day pastrami-making process and the three-day corned-beef construction with classic sandwich combos such as the Laurel & Hardy, corny beef and Derby's pastrami comingled with swiss cheese, coleslaw, and russian dressing ($15.25). The evening menu also offers late-night diners edible art such as the Drunken Flying chicken ($20.95) and Michelangelo's David molded from rye bread.
The Derby Deli & Dueling Piano Bar entertains patrons with myriad feuding and nonfeuding musical acts, including karaoke and the dulcet song stylings of The Derby Band. Along with regularly scheduled events, the eatery hosts the annual West Coast Hot Dog Eating Championship, which will be held on September 5 and will crown one superior sausage eater with a laurel wreath doused in pickled relish.
