Drinking beer, like yelling at the cat, thinking about motorcycles, and setting fire to the neighbor's wicker man, is a vital part of each day. Live the day to its fullest with today's Groupon: for $15, you get a two-hour-long Village Pourhouse beer-tasting class, which features beers from selected breweries (a $25 value).
Like folding a multiplication table into a paper airplane, Village Pourhouse's beer-tasting classes blend education and entertainment. At each tasting, an expert beer sommelier will guide you through six flavorful fine brews. This guzzling guru will tell you about the libation's history and culture before pointing out its bouquet, hoppiness, flavor notes, and dissimilarity to clam chowder. After learning about the ingredients and brewing process, you'll be able to impress strangers at campsites, truck stops, and renaissance faires with loads of beer knowledge.
Beer-tasting classes are scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m., with the exception of Oct. 20. Tuesday classes are held at Village Pourhouse’s Restaurant Row location (366 W. 46th Street), and Wednesday classes are held at the downtown location (64 Third Avenue). Because classes are limited to 50 people, Village Pourhouse will add more classes to meet demand if the current schedule fills up.
