Like a film's mystery, seafood can be pleasantly surprising, contains fishy elements, and often involves a few capers. Solve hunger with this Groupon.
$15 for $30 Worth of Upscale American Cuisine
Whitfield's Restaurant and Bar’s seasonal menu of American-style favorites assigns forks an array of work via seafood and steak entrees. Saffron crème rains down upon fields of house-made sausage and Poseidon-designed mussels ($10.50). After a kitchen denizen pan-sears them, sesame haricot verts frame a fillet of chili-rubbed salmon, placed artfully in a jasmine sticky rice ($21). For patrons eager for an even more inventive culinary creation, sausage bread pudding and swiss chard chaperone a double bone pork chop ($23) the way a parent chaperones a hyper child at a glass museum—very closely. Three seasonal custards comprise the dessert roster’s trio of brûlées ($8). On select evenings, live music dispatches soothing sounds and gives idle eaters something to enjoy.
The gleeful sounds of tickled ivories permeates Whitfield's Restaurant, when a piano player regales diners with masterful tunes. Other times, the live music—which takes place every night—includes a jazz band, a violin player, and more. Stepping around the curved, tile-fronted bar, the wait staff deliver dishes of seafood and steaks to diners perched in crimson booths beneath the glow of amber pendant lights. Led by owner William Dewayne Johnson and head chef Matthew Smith, the kitchen sears scallops and salmon with aplomb. Diners can choose to eat alfresco under the guard of bright-red awnings and stars blinking their choices from the menu in Morse code.
