Grapes naturally exist in three forms: solid, liquid, and raisin. Imbibe the fruit's most drinkable state with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of wine and other store merchandise plus a complimentary wine tasting at Wildside Winery in Versailles. Wildside Winery is open from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday from January 3 through March 16.
Wildside Winery's five-acre vineyard bursts with grapes, berries, and fruit trees that owner and winemaker Neil Vasilakes culls to craft a bevy of grapey glass-fillers. Sip your way through a complimentary wine tasting to help decide which bottles to bring home, choosing from the dry white seyval blanc ($10), sweet blackberry wine ($15), and the dry red chambourcin ($14), which won the gold medal at the 2009 Indy International Wine Competition. Unlike tequila shots and shotgunned root-beer floats, wine is a slow sip, making it a more enjoyable libation. Sniff and sip swirled glasses of fermented goodness with today's deal.
Since 1997, Wildside has been growing fresh fruit on 30 acres of rolling farmland just a few miles south of Versailles. The winery was dubbed "Wildside" because of the abundance of wildflowers growing there and their minimal use of pesticides. Today they have over eleven acres of grapes, three acres of fruit trees, and 1.5 acres of berries.
Wildside Winery is on its eleventh year as a Kentucky winery specializing in making quality wines from Kentucky-grown grapes and fruit. They make over 30 wines in all styles, from a range of dry reds to white wines and sweeter fruit wines. Wildside also hosts weddings, meetings, parties, and reunions. Cheese trays and snack items are also available.
