What You'll Get
If humans are mostly made of water, and fish traditionally inhabit water, fish should naturally occur in the human body. Fix this gap in nature’s logic with today’s Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of Japanese fare and drinks at Zen Japanese Restaurant in West Vancouver.
One of Metro Vancouver's first Ocean Wise sushi restaurant, Zen Japanese Restaurant fuse traditional Japanese cooking methods, western influences, and approved underwater selections to roll out an innovative menu of sushi, sashimi, and robata. The sushi bar is an ideal vantage point to watch gourmands craft rolls renowned for their fresh fish filling and ability to soar through donut holes. Quell a quavering belly with one of Zen's original concoctions such as the millennium roll teeming with Dungeness crab, salmon, and tuna ($15.95) or the popcorn shrimp roll sealed in a soya wrap ($14.95). To satisfy a protein-hungry palate, diners can feast on Gindara, a miso marinated charcoal grilled sablefish ($17.95) or wet their noses in a teriyaki chicken–bobbing contest.
A rotating selection of premium sakes caters to epicurean toast-makers and primes throats for an ensemble of freshly sliced sashimi. Fish friendly patrons can opt for a smorgasbord of vegetable tempura or pay homage to their sashimi's humble beginnings from an ocean-view table on the heated patio.

About Zen Japanese Restaurant
The chefs at Zen Japanese Restaurant serve up Japanese cuisine with West Coast flair. Sushi rolls unite traditional ingredients such as shrimp and tuna with fusion adornments such as honey-dijon sesame sauce and mango chutney. Cooked selections such as new york cut strip steak and tuna paté sizzle in tempura batter or atop a robata grill.
One of the first participants in the Vancouver aquarium's Ocean Wise program, Zen also helps customers make ocean-friendly choices by marking sustainably fished seafood dishes with a special logo on its menus. Ocean views both inside the restaurant and on a heated outdoor patio also let them show their love of things marine by waving to wistful mermaids out at sea.
