Abilene Kansas Holiday Inn Express We did not have a reservation but stopped in hoping for a vacancy. The front desk clerk was able to pull up my email address to get our IHG number. It was close to the interstate but very quiet. A few miles from downtown and lots of places to see. Would recommend this hotel to someone traveling through the area.

Not up to IHG standards The making of the reservation was very pleasant. The gal who gave me a room was very considerate and gave me the quietest room she had. It went downhill from there. She gave me two keys because she said they had problems with their hardware. The walk to my room revealed a hotel in disrepair. There were cut and glued squares in the carpet down the hallway. The bed has a very uncomfortable mattress and the waterproof mattress cover squeaks. The pillows are comfortable. There was a cracker crumb on the less than perfect shape bed cover. Other than that it appeared clean but smells dank. I could handle all of that but the incredibly rude new front desk lady was the topping on the cake. All I had was a $10 bill and I asked for change so I could get water. She was very terse saying she didn’t have hardly any change. I said I just needed water. She gave me change but the machine was sold out of water, Sprite and Rootbeer. Then it kept my money. I went back to the front desk and boy was she mad. She said she couldn’t give me my money back. I asked if she maybe had a key to the machine and she gave me a flat no then shoved $2.00 at me. I gave her .50 back because I lost $1.50. She didn’t say sorry or thank you or anything. She was by far the rudest most unpleasant front desk person I’ve ever dealt with and I’ve traveled quite a bit. I don’t think I’ll be staying at a Holiday Inn anymore. There are too many other good chains to choose from.

New Hotel Opening in June. A new Holiday Inn Express is under construction, and reported to open in June, so I will keep this review brief. The current hotel is fine. The door on the bathroom in the room had rusty hinges, but it closed, and locked, just fine. The room fridge worked, and the TV worked. The breakfast was standard Holiday Inn Express free breakfast; the breakfast room is a little tight. I would stay here again, but if I have flexibility, I would wait for the new hotel to open.

This hotel is in serious need of an update or ten. There is only one light in the parking lot and the pavement is not This hotel is in serious need of an update or ten. The parking lot has only one light and the pavement has deteriorated in many spots, which makes just walking through here a challenge and a real safety hazard. There is little or no lighting provided from anyplace nearby so you need to use a flashlight to get to the front door after check-in. The bed was very old and not in good shape. I can’t remember staying in a Holiday Inn where this ever a problem. There was in issue between the kitchen staff and the front desk that was aired in front of the guests and this is not professional. All in all, this was not any thing I’d ever seen at a Holiday Inn and don’t plan staying at this one in the future.. Salina is just a few miles away and their Holiday Inn was in much better shape. I hope the Corporate office reads these reviews.

The worst experience I have ever had at a holiday inn! What a terrible experience! I checked in I was given a room, the key didn’t work. So I went to the front desk to get help. Maintenance man couldn’t get door to work. Gave another room and the door knob hanging there. Awful place and falling apart
