DO NOT BOOK! DO NOT BOOK! I booked a room here for 2 nights through Expedia on May 6th. Expedia said there was only 1 room left. Website stated free cancellation until May 31st at 6:00pm. So I booked it. I talked with my daughter who stated she would rather stay at an Airbnb than at the hotel , so I canceled the reservation, same day. My reservation showed as canceled on Expedia. Fast forward and I am charged the full price for 2-nights on my credit card. The hotel management and owner said they do not accept 3rd party cancellations, even though expedia said it was a free cancellation until May 31st. After multiple calls, they refuse to call me back to discuss. Management tells the front office staff to tell me no refund due to hotel policies. How am I supposed to know specific hotel's rules for 3rd parties?!?!?! Expedia can't refund the money because the hotel is the one who charged the amount. Hotel is refusing! Days upon days, hours upon hours later, I am having to dispute the charges as recommended by Expedia.

Terrible old & uncomfortable mattresses Mattress so hard & old. Can hear the springs popping when you move. My guess they are the original mattress from when hotel was built 20 yrs ago. Terrible . I Would never stay here again. They really need to invest in new mattresses. Friendly staff & breakfast was okay

Good value but bit noisy during our stay Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable, and made for a good value stay. There were a few negatives some of which is a little beyond the hotels control but did result in a poor nights sleep. We had a king room with seating area. It was nicely decorated, had a lovely light feel and was very clean. The room was adapted for disability, with a wider door into the bathroom, and the shower/bath had a pull down seat and bars. The bathroom was incredibly clean, modern and well appointed. There was a selection of toiletries including bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. There were plenty of towels and flannels, and the shower/bath had a low and high shower head. There was a regular hairdryer also provided. There was a lounge area with sofa, armchair, TV, desk, fridge, wet bar, coffee machine and microwave. There was a door to separate the lounge and bedroom. The bed was huge and pretty comfy. Nice clean and soft bedding. The pillows were lumpy squares, not great. There was an iron and ironing board, ample hanging space and drawers. The aircon was powerful but boy was it loud and noisy. There was a good selection of hot and cold for breakfast, which was included with our stay. We used the pool whilst we were there. It was very cloudy and yellow looking. We contemplated not going in as it was pretty sad looking but it was really hot so we just didn’t get our heads wet. The pool area was tidy but had been depleated of garden furniture. There were 3 loungers and maybe 2 chairs. There was a small cardio gym, we didn’t use it but looked ok. The main negatives were the sleep disturbances. This started with a man talking loudly on the phone late at night in the rear car park. This happened again around 0630. My husband had to shout in the end. There was then a dog barking constantly from about 715, followed by Lorries reversing and beeping. The hotel decided to also do some hoovering around 0740 right outside our room. The worst bit was in the middle of the night I was woken by an intense smell of cannabis. It’s was so strong in the bedroom area I was worried someone had come into the room. It was gone by morning and just another annoyance of others who have no regard for others. Location wise there are plenty of places to eat a short drive away. The hotel is around a ten minute drive from the cute little town.

On the decline... This place has really fallen off. We've been staying here whenever we visit family in Aiken since 2009. It's very conveniently located, and when it used to be a very nice and comfortable place to crash for $100/night. But today, it's run down and poorly managed. The hotel is understaffed. I just stayed for four nights and had to get a new key card every day as the cards kept failing. In one instance, we had to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes at 11:00pm because our keys stopped working. Only one person was staffing the hotel, several customers were waiting to check in, and the phone was ringing off the hook because the tv service wasn't working. The staff member was new and it took three tries to get a working key. He was doing the best he could, and was calling a manager for backup who told him, on speaker phone, that he had to figure it out himself - and then hung up. The place has really gotten beaten up... The carpet is loose on the floor... The walls are covered in dirt, scuffs, and dings. The room had a very budget-motel-like feel. The curtains, linens, and bedspreads were all stained. The upholstery on several pieces of furniture was torn. The tub drain was plugged when we arrived - but the maintenance guy was able to fix that pretty quickly. There used to be a variety of hotel-ish artwork in the rooms, but ours had none... Someone was vaping weed around the building and the smell was pervasive throughout the lobby and hallways. The staff seems to be doing all they can to manage... Everyone I spoke with was friendly and tried to be helpful, but they don't have a lot to work with at this point. The upshot is that this place is badly in need of some renovation and investment. I hate to say it, but having stayed here for more than a dozen consecutive visits to Aiken, on our next trip we're going to find a different hotel.
