Hard to find but good quality for the money Not new & shiny like other hotels along I-40 but kind people, clean room, and peaceful. Booked at last minute but pleased with choice. The "very good" rating is deserved. Seems to be a good location, too. But address on booking is complete wrong. Had to call and get correct directions - crazy!! The one-way frontage roads are very confusing.

Would not recommend, pay the extra cash for a better quality room at another place. Family and I are traveling on a budget. Staff was friendly but the overall quality of our room was horrible. Our bathroom had a weird smell. Room had a stenching smell of cigarettes. The most unpleasant part was that we left with bed bug bites. I would not recommend.

Amarillo This hotel is not only old and outdated but it is extremely filthy. I have stayed at other Sleep Inns that were great. This one though, not! I was afraid to touch anything in the hotel. Luckily the room itself wasn't quite as bad as the rest of the hotel. Will think twice about staying at a Sleep Inn.

Gun Owners Not Welcome At the front door is a sign saying No Handguns On The Property. This is never mentioned during the booking process. If you're going to bar handgun owners, you MUST tell them at booking, before they book and before they pay. It's EXACTLY THE SAME as Pets/No Pets. You cannot have someone arrive after traveling all day and tell them that they can't stay at the motel due to something that the motel never previously mentioned. Especially when motel management appears to care deeply about this issue. It's fine, albeit stupid, for the owner/manager to bar firearms owners, but if the motel does that, they MUST mention it ahead of time. In general, it's stupid to mix politics and business, because you never gain business that way, you only lose it. Worse, the owner/manager of the Sleep Inn is well aware that if they warn off firearms owners, no one will go out of their way to book at that motel due to the policy, but plenty will take their business elsewhere. The refusal to mention the policy ahead of time is just plain dishonest. You cannot have a stealth anti-gun policy. If you have that policy, be proud of your stand and let everyone know. I checked six other motels within two blocks of the Sleep Inn, including a Comfort Inn. None had anti-gun signs at their entrances. I've been through this with motels before. If you're going to bar guns, you MUST tell guests before they book. The problem will not get solved by ignoring it. The review of the motel will not take into account the motel's handgun-policy hypocrisy. Overall 3/5 (4/5 if the internet worked) Value 5/5 Internet 3/5 Pros: the room (103) was clean. The motel was clean. Front desk staff was pleasant. Location is good. Cons: room and bathroom were typical Sleep Inn compact. Stains on the carpet. Internet worked well in the evening, but in the morning it had trouble relogging in, was then very slow and soon crapped out altogether (this is an issue at many Choice properties). Breakfast was poor, almost non-existent. The entrance would benefit with sliding doors, to facilitate getting luggage carts in and out. The parking lot seems small. They have some kind of an electrical problem. In my room, one of the overhead light fixtures didn't work (it wasn't the bulb). A plug outlet was loose and caused the lamp to flicker when I plugged something in. The phone/ethernet jack was pulled out and had exposed wires. The bathroom light switch worked but was half out of the wall. One of the outside doors had no keypad and had exposed wires.

It was decent for the price! Rooms were clean, the bathroom shower was a little rough around the edges with light mold. The breakfast was grab and go so no hot food besides waffles. It's a great place for a night's rest. We didn't hear much noise, but we were very tired.
