They can do better. For $270, everything was just “OK”. Where we were really disappointed was the state of the cleanliness of the tub. I would be embarrassed to be the manager of this hotel with the stained grout showing. Get some caulking and fix this! Disappointing.

Look elsewhere Internet is almost non-functional. Breakfast is small continental. Hot tub is tepid and pool is freezing. Rooms are ok, but attention to detail is not there. Stay elsewhere for a few dollars more IF you really need to stay here. Sketchy area to stay in, but I guess nearly all of California is like that.

The bare minimum I don’t usually bother with reviews but this is an exception. I’m not a large person and I could feel the bed springs in a pronounced way. The breakfast was just terrible. And I mean terrible in a way they should be ashamed of for being so cheap. If you get a room on the parking lot side there will be a fair bit of noise. Also, the internet was pretty bad. The only plus is that the room was clean. If you are booking at over $100 per night, this place is not worth it.

No food, broken equipment, not in redwoods as described The price for the room wasn’t any kind of deal so we were shocked to learn there was no beverage or food service. We wondered if it was because the hotel had been closed due to covid and was slow to get its new practices in place but were told they never closed. During checkin we were asked to sign authorization for a charge above the confirmed room rate and, only after asking about it, were told they require a deposit for incidentals. That’s a practice some hotels follow but it’s professional and common courtesy to explain unexpected charges to a customer rather than expecting them to blindly sign for any dollar amount the clerk presents. When that occurred, I confirmed the exact charges expected at checkout which matched my written confirmation. Yet, upon checkout, I was charged yet another fee no one could explain. A washing machine was out of order, the ice machine on our floor was not working, when my friend used the main floor ice machine which made a horrible noise the desk clerk complained about the racket and asked why he wasn’t using the inoperable machine! The business center printer was also not working. The exterior of the building itself is nice and a couple of the employees were friendly and helpful but I would drive another hour to a different community before staying here again. Fortunately for anyone visiting Arcata there are numerous other choices.
