Great Location Great location, had a 2 bedroom lock off with a view of the pool and ocean. In the middle of July it was never over 72, and got into the 50's at night (coming from AZs +110 heat quite the get-a-way. Every night fog rolled in and stuck around until 9-10 am Unfortunately wild fires in Santa Barbra also brought low hanging smoke nearly ever day. The beach was great with kids but water just 54. Fortunately pool was heated (about 80) and hot tub/spa was well over 100. Plenty of nice chairs and tables, 5 nice BBQ grills. Comfortable beds, nice full kitchen with a great view (lucky). No on site restaurant, but several within walking distance. A good location to tour several local wineries. Stayed a full week, will return next time I can get in (July '26). Hotel was in the process of refurbishing several units, we were in one that had been recently completed. Only about 1/3 of units have ocean views. Grounds are very nice, to walk, sit and relax.

Not your go-to Cal Poly tour stop over After a grueling journey from Boston involving a delayed flight and lots of traffic on the roads from LAX, we wanted to unwind and enjoy a slice of heaven by a CA beach. I think our experience would've been a lot different if we had time to enjoy the many facilities this resort offers but for a school tour, particularly one as remote as Cal Poly, you need to get a vibe of the town and surrounds and we only had time to hang out in SLO for an hour after dinner. It's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Staff were all very nice and helpful but the club is expensive (approx. $330 for a night) for what we needed. Rooms and decor are tired albeit huge with full kitchen and walk in closet. Remember to go buy some food for breakfast - I am not sure if there was a restaurant serving breakfast. It is great if you are a couple to sleep in a King as most hotels are Queens or Doubles which are tough for us and the sofa bed was comfortable for our 17 year old so we had a good night's sleep after our wretched journey. The weather is much cooler here than in further south in LA and so remember your fleeces and light jackets. On reflection, we would've done a lot better by staying in SLO itself to be nearer the campus and to get a feel of the town although if you visit in the summer, remember that half the population of SLO is comprised of students so summers will be atypical.

Great location, dated property It's a great location on a bluff in Avila Bay. It's an easy walk down to Avila Beach and the grounds of the hotel have some super views. The property is a time capsule from the 90s and the bed we slept on felt like it was original equipment from the 90s. We had a room overlooking the parking lot where workers were sandblasting concrete or something very loud all day. The patio area was tiny with almost enough room to turn around. The room was large enough but kind of strange with a huge table in the middle. It has a full kitchen, and it seems to be geared toward longer stays. Housekeeping says they only come once every eight days. The concierge guy in the lobby was really a pure salesperson, it reminded me of being in a car dealership. No EV charger on site even though the parking lot had plenty of EVs. No breakfast or restaurant on site, but they do have coffee all the time which is nice. Ping pong and other games in the lobby area were fun.

Comfortable efficiency apartment, service was not great. I stayed in a comfortable efficiency apartment with a full kitchen. The balcony was very small and the chairs didn't allow one to see over the solid railing. The "concierge" team was essentially a marketing team that repeatedly tried to sell me Hilton products, intruding on my stay. When I needed help, they were not available. The experience with the front desk was mixed. The restaurant on campus is oriented towards the golf course, not the hotel.

Paradise This is one of the best properties that I have stay through RCI. The view was amazing, the resort was quiet and peaceful and the staff was fantastic! There are restaurants just a short walk away (1/2 mile).
