Not pleased overall Reservation made weeks before. We arrived at 3:30pm, check in is anytime after 3. Our room was not ready and could not get in until 6:30. Lobby is wonderful but the rest of the facility is very dated and in dire need or remodel. Not an inexpensive place to stay. I will choose another hotel when I travel through Bend

Marginal Experience We are wrapping up a stay at this property and the experience has been marginal. We paid over $350/nt for a king bed-sleeper sofa room that was located in the far end of the property overlooking a parking lot. The sofa bed was broken and car horns/lights intermittently disrupted our rest. Staff offered to move us a few doors down ( they admitted that this building was nearly empty) but weren’t sure that the sofa bed was even adequate. At this price, Riverhouse can do much better on service quality and lodging experience. D+ Rating

Rip Off Inn This was one of the worst, overpriced, hotels I have ever stayed in. The day before arrival, we received notice that there would be no housekeeping during our four night stay due to COVID precautions. We checked-in, immediately our room was disappointing. Small, the patio was the parking lot, zero river views or access. I spoke with the front desk, was offered another bottle of wine, no thank you, a larger room with a fire place, it’s 90 degrees outside, so, no thank you, or a river view room in the pet friendly building, no thank you. By the 3rd day, our towels were musty, we ran out of toilet paper, and had to beg for more coffee. When paying $1550.00 for 4 nights, I expected some service and resort amenities. There were none! The pools were so over chlorinated, I was afraid to use them. Plus the number of guests using the pool, that were not guests was irritating. Guests should never be responsible for emptying trash, cleaning the room, gathering linens etc… There are so many other options in Bend, save the money and heartache, stay elsewhere. I taught summer school to pay for this, so disappointed!

Delayed Check-In Upon arriving for a 4 pm check-in, we were told the room was not ready, although it had been promised at 4 pm. The staff told us it would be done within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, we did not get access to our room for another 90 minutes that our room was finally ready! Due to the inconvenience, I asked the receptionist and the manager if we could receive some allowance for the delay, but was refused, as they claimed "that was not the hotel's policy". Somewhat hypocritically, we had received a text message that morning stating that if we checked in before 4 pm, we could have a room early for an $50 surcharge. Frankly, I was sadly disappointed that the hotel management did not seem interested in compensating us for the delay at check-in and our reserved dinner time.

Greenwashing by the Rushing River The river running through this property provides visual beauty and soothing sound. The riverfront room was definitely worth the upgrade. The waterfront restaurant looks lovely though I didn't eat there. In such a beautiful location one expects the property to be eco-conscious. The hideous plastic containers for shampoo and body wash are branded Eco but there is nothing eco about plastic tubes that get thrown out half-full with each guest. Best practice these days is large containers attached to shower walls. No disposable plastic for housekeepers to stock and fuss with. In a pretty and clean city such as Bend Riverhouse on the Deschutes can and should do better.
