Homewood Suites by Hilton Birmingham South Inverness

Dilapidated. Nice Staff, but worn out facility. This Homewood Suites is way overdue for an update. The staff is great, friendly and professional but the building, the equipment, furniture, appliances, A/C, etc., are so old Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name on the property. The room A/C wouldn’t get the room below 74 until about 6AM, and even then the lowest it could get was 71. The faucet in the bath didn’t just drip, it was a steady, and loud, stream. And don’t get me started on the couch. It had to be decades old and showed it. We wouldn’t even get near it, much less sit on it. Check the pictures.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Save your money and find a hotel that has standards. Room 224 July 6-10, 2024. This is one of the worst hotels my family has expereienced in a very long time. First off, everything is dirty...the halls, the floors, the couches, etc. The hotel has moisture problems, or mold, because loud fans are in the hallway and blowing all day and night. Here are the other problems we've experienced our first night: -No luggage rack in rooms, had to use ironing board. -Floor in kitchen is very sticky and dirty. -Outlet in kitchen doesn’t work for toaster. -Knobs broken off stove. -Floor trim coming away from the wall throughout entire room. -Mirror in bathroom is cracked on corner with very sharp edge that is dangerous. -Bathroom sink is clogged and drains very, very, very slowly. -Bathroom faucet handle is reversed...hot is cold and cold is hot. -Stains on carpet and couch are bad. -Bedroom closet door is off the track and half the closet is inaccessible. -Very old and frayed bed linens. -Shower diverter doesn’t work. Save your money and find a hotel that has standards.

Excellent Staff exceptional Location Staff really made this hotel feel like home. I chose this hotel because it was only a 3 minute walk to The Fresh Market where I could get ingredients to cook in the fully equipped kitchen at Homewood Suites. Spent 9 or 10 days here. Loved it. During Covid-19 shutdown. So didn’t get hit meals, but reduced rate on room was appreciated. Hope to be back next Spring.

Loved it! Great location - right off the highway. Great breakfast and the rooms were very, very nice. Great part of Birmingham to stay in. We were on our way to Florida and it was the perfect half-way point. Really enjoyed our stay!

Not up to standards for a Homewood Suites property I drove to Texas to attend a funeral and on my way back to Atlanta I stayed at this Homewood Suites. Typically, Homewood is an awesome property. Maybe this one was, and will be again. Drove into the parking lot and several pieces of equipment. Looked like booms, as all of the windows had plastic over them, so they may have been repainting the outside. Whatever, they should have posted that on the website before I made the reservation. I would have booked something else. I will say the room was nice, as most Homewood Suites are. Let's talk about the pros. The location was good, as it was just off Hwy 280, and was quiet. It was surrounded by tons of choices for dining, shopping, etc. Now the cons. I checked in online and recieved my Digital Key. Took my roller bag and backpack up to the room, and the key didn't work. Had to trek down to the lobby and request a key. Not the friendliest person at the front desk, but these days that's the norm for the younger generation. Little, or no, social skills. Got into my room and settled in and wanted to watch the end of the KY/TN basketball game. Had a hard time finding the right channel. None of the channels available with the remote matched the card in the room with the list of channels. The final con was at checkout. I had to leave early (before 5a) and went to the front desk twice, and never saw a soul, even after calling out for someone. I was not able to get a copy of my receipt, nor was I able to let them know I was checking out, in case they needed my room early for another guest. Probably won't return to this location, especially with the plethora of hotels nearby.
