Lovely stay! We have just returned from a weekend at this hotel. I was slightly anxious about staying after reading reviews but I can honestly I am not sure what the bad reviews are about? What a lovely place! From the second you walk in, you meet friendly staff in reception who provide a very easy check in and explain what times the children can use the pool. Our family room was very cosy and warm with all facilities you would expect. The pool was amazing! I did not use the sauna and steam room but they both looked great. Breakfast was lovely, so much choice and plenty of staff around to help if needed. We did witness some guests being rude to staff which we felt was very unnecessary as they couldn’t do more to help. I think these particular guests were just there to be difficult and there would be no pleasing them. The only 1 down side was the fire alarm went off extremely early both mornings (before 8 o’clock) but we can overlook that. Would definitely return and recommend. Thank you having us!

Nice spa and comfy room Room was really nice, comfy bed, lots of storage space and a really cold fridge. Service was slow, there didn’t seem enough staff with them having to man both the bar and restaurant at the same time. Breakfast was ok, nice cold juice and good sausages. We really enjoyed our dinner choices of the sirloin steak and the slow cooked beef. The peppercorn sauce was really tasty! Chicken wings were a large portion and also enjoyed. Spa treatments were really good but the room we were in did seem a little bright and basic. The pool was busy and jacuzzi out of service which was disappointing. The hotel seemed a bit past its best and run down.

Few days stay BIG shout out to Paul who served at the breakfast, the only person who greeted you with a warm smile and polite conversation. Two more people who actually spoke to us were Robert on reception and the blonde lady at breakfast. Sorry to say but all the other staff didn't even crack a smile....breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Like the other comments, definitely needs some work doing to it.

Comfortable but Tired We chose this hotel as it was near to the Southampton car ferry to Cowes for the Isle of Wight that we had planned to visit for a day. By 'comfortable' we mean that it was an open style hotel with good amenities including a decent pool and gym that we took advantage of. The room was of a nice size and because of a recent repair to a knee joint we were able to get a room with an excellent walk in shower rather than the normal bath with integrated shower. The bed was comfortable and we had a quiet night's sleep whilst we were there. By 'tired' we mean that it looked like the 1990s hotel when it was built, with decor from the time. But it was clean, although looking as though an uplift was overdue. For example, seats in the dining room had marks that a decent upholstery clean could have sorted out. There was a good range of options for the buffet breakfast, but the hot options sadly suffered a bit with their temperature, as is often the case with food standing around waiting for 'customers'. Amazed that coffee and tea were offered in conference style dispensing pots. We thought that most hotels now offered bean to cup self-service dispensing machines that also provided hot water for tea. That said, the staff were all helpful and willing to please and this lifted our view of the place from a three-star rating to four.

20 kids in the pool - not my idea of relaxation_ Me and my husband have stayed here twice before and was great hence why we returned for a third time. The room was great, it was comfy and clean. Majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. But….if you are looking for a relaxing spa break do not stay here. The pool area was absolutely full of kids, it turns out that this hotel is available to book as part of the paultons park package. There must have been about 20 kids in the pool and some of them were even using the sauna and steam room where all of the adults were trying to hide away from them. Was not relaxing at all…so although we have enjoyed our stays previous I don’t think I will be returning.
