Some weak points Hotel in a strategic position, downtown Buffalo and close to good restaurants and attractions. Strengths: so big room, maybe too big, very confortable bed and pillows well cleaned room. Weak points: forniture seems to be very old, dirty carpet on the floor, shower with curtain, in my opinion unhygienic, no wardrobe inside the room, from my room at 10th floor I can heard noise from the road. So this hotel needs to be refurbished

Spider-infested and abysmal. Spider-infested room, dilapidated NOISY HVAC, decrepit furnishings. Don’t stay here. You’re better off sleeping in your rental car…

Dirty and dilapidated Dated hotel with dirty, broken down rooms. Carpeting throughout hotel room areas was gross. A/C inoperable or ineffective in many rooms. Lobby and dining areas have seen some updates.

It's been some time since I reviewed but I could not hold back and felt compelled to give you a heads up about this hotel. Let's start with the positives...Kevin at the front desk is awesome, he truly wants to improve your stay and is willing to help in any way he can. There is another man, whose name I don't know unfortunately, but he was lovely as well. I can only describe his as older than Kevin, a man of color and I overheard that he is a vegetarian, or perhaps a vegan. The engineering staff, which do repairs, is also prompt and repairs what is needed. Now the real deal about this place. Not only is the building 100 years old, but aside from the lobby, so is everything else within the building. Of course this is an exaggeration, but it may as well be. Saying this hotel requires a major gut job and renovation is an understatement. The rooms are dark and old and worn. Don't bring a book as you won't be able to read it unless you are reading in the daytime by a window. The rooms lack safes. If you need to store items, there are antiquated safe deposit boxes in a room behind the front desk, which is totally inconvenient. Both when my husband went to deposit items and withdraw items, the staff had difficulty locating the key required to open the box, along with the key supplied to us. Kevin was able to locate a make up mirror for me, as the room was void of one, which is one of the many challenges he took upon himself. Granted, this thing only lit up for about ten minutes before the light failed, but it least it had a magnifier so I could apply make up. I had to sit under the lamp for light, but so be it. It got the job done. He managed to locate a couple of robes and slippers for us upon check in. Please know we were staying in a suite; these items are customarily included in suites in all other hotels. With a suite, we had two bathrooms, which is great. The light in the second one, which was brighter than the one in the other bathroom was great for the fifteen minutes that it worked. Of course, engineering repaired it for us; albeit the switch was installed upside down but no big deal. The cold water in that sink did not work and needed repair. The shower head also needed either repair or replacement. I'm not sure which as I didn't stick around for any of these jobs. One bathroom and three repairs; not great. The housekeeping supervisor got involved as the housekeeper didn't understand when I asked her to come back later, so she never cleaned. Once the higher ups got involved, we had service. They were very nice and understanding. We did not eat any food but wanted to do so upon check in. It was a weekday night and the kitchen was closed; room service ended early. My husband went to find a local restaurant, I made due with the protein bar I had with me. Don't count on finding a local market, as there are none. Unless you have a car, food is from restaurants only. There is a Starbuck's and a bar in the lobby. I don't have a clue if there is a fitness center of any kind as I really didn't want to spend more time at this property than necessary. We just walked a lot. I think this says it all. Our expectations of a Hyatt Regency are surely greater than what we experienced here.
