Perfect place to stay in centre of Caen. A beautiful little hotel in the centre of old Caen close to the castle. Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. The Patronne is charming and permanently on duty. I had a beautiful bedroom and there is a restaurant which I will try next time.

Great stay before ferry We stayed 3 nights after being in south brittany for a week. Some reviews were quite negative but we went with a posiyive attitude and had a great time. The parking was tight but made worse by other brits bad parking , we eorked out it was best to reverse in. We had cojoining rooms with shared door and it worked well for us with teens. Breakfast was good if slightly limited on cooked options but the breads, spreads , cheese and pastries made up for it. The staff actually spoke good English and i found Benjamin and Alexander super helpful with tips for travel, dinner etc. We had dinner in the hotel on the last night and it was excellent; fine dining with lovely wine , amazing cheese and amuse bouche. The lamb was tip top! We booked the spa on 2 days and again set expectations low by previous reviews and were pleasantly surprised - small but perfectly formed. We'd definitely stay again.

Overstated as a Spa Hotel Oh dear…I normally try to focus on positives when writing a review but…In sum, Le Dauphin has over-stated its quality as a spa hotel. Yes, it has an over-priced Michelin-rated restaurant but…Let’s begin with a warning: the hotel is in three different buildings. Yes, we knew that before our arrival, but since we wanted the spa experience we made the unexamined assumption that they were interconnected or had a covered walkway. Mais non. Thus when we arranged to have massages, we had to don our dressing gowns in the room and then walk across the car park to enter the massage room. At least to wasn’t raining or freezing! Also, for a spa hotel we were disappointed that we had to ring an external masseuse and arrange for her to come to the hotel. The spa area is not included in the price of the room and can be yours at €20 per person for 90 minutes. Unfortunately for us the heated pool wasn’t, nor was the bassin._ The rooms were clean, attractive but Spartan. Few if any complementary items—not even tissues. There was a “mini-bar” with two bottles of water in it. The safe was on the floor of the wardrobe and could only be accessed on one’s hands and knees. Unfun with my hip replacements._ There was one water glass in the room for two people. My wife is vegetarian, but the only option in the restaurant was—you guessed it—an omelet. Come on! Vegetarian cuisine has moved far beyond that in recent decades. Happily there are many very good restaurants located nearby. On the more positive side: great location, some on-site parking at €15 per night, clean and tidy, friendly staff, breakfast was good, but not included in the room price. We would not stay there again.

Very disappointing The service in this hotel needs serious upgrading. It took 4 credit cards by telephone to have one validated before arriving. Unfriendly staff. Very limited accommodation with the minimal of extras (had to ask for some water). Finally the waiter at the restaurant in the evening was arrogant, rude and unfriendly. He also requires a good shower or some deodorant. We felt we were given the wrong wine but the waiter was if course correct! We were left paying for the mistake. I had stayed here before which is why I came back with friends but Will not be returning unless there is a serious improvement in the hotels staff.

Nice location, disappointing restaurant Comfy rooms, nice location, nice tiny Spa. Central to visit Caen by foot, parking available, rooms are tiny but have everything needed. Restaurant on location. Walking distance to the historic sites. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not up to the standard I believe it was. Tasteless food.
