Very Pleasant Stay Spent two nights here. A very pleasant experience. The location is nice for proximity to the university but not a quiet or attractive neighborhood. Our suite was clean, spacious, and quite nice. Haven't stayed in such an appealing hotel unit in a long time. Breakfast food items seemed like real food. It was very reasonably priced when we went, too.

Not terrible, but could be better No streaming services available & their WiFi won’t connect if you bring your own (Fire Stick, Roku, etc). It’s 2024 people, c’mon. Kitchen includes a small cooktop, no oven. Full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher, & garbage disposal. For the most part, it’s a quiet hotel. By “quiet” I mean your neighbors have to purposefully be making a ton of noise for you to hear them. There’s normal hallway noise. Nothing too crazy. If you’re diamond, don’t expect to be greeted with your MyWay benefits. Half the time they don’t even offer a bottle of water at check in. Housekeeping slams the doors against the deadbolt while turning over rooms. Highly obnoxious. There’s a parking fee they don’t tell you about. Just shows up on the bill - surprise! The ceiling fan in the bedroom is nice.

It has seen better days Are you surprised that this hotel is so highly rated? Me too. I chose this hotel based on a prior visit about 10 years ago. Boy, has it gone downhill! When we arrived in the evening, the entire outside of the hotel was dark (including parking lot and the hotel sign). I had to alert the clerk at the desk, and he seemed surprised. Red flags started to go up as soon as we started to walk towards the elevator...stain marks on the ceiling tiles, dirty and dingy floor, mismatched wallpaper patch was visible before we got on the elevator. As some other recent reviewers have commented, the rooms are dated and 'scratched up', which is tolerable if clean. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There were ants and ladybugs in the room; the freezer rack was visibly rusted; there were multiple stains on the mattress cover (bedbugs concerns due the state of the room prompted me to check); previous occupants' trash was left in the dresser drawer (see photo); one of the thermostats was hanging loose off the wall (see photo)...just to name a few. Breakfast offerings were skimpy compared to other Homewood Suites I have stayed at; some items were completely empty, and we had to wait 10+ minutes for those to be replenished.

Above average Homewood Suites Not sure why this hotel is so highly rated. Decent enough but the hotel has its problems. Cons: Furniture and rooms are a little scratched up. TV was very frustrating. No channel guide and the half the channels weren’t working. Shower also didn’t get that warm and seemed to run lukewarm very quickly. Breakfast offerings were skimpy compared to other Homewood Suites I have stayed at. Pros: very close to University of Illinois and you could probably walk from hotel to the football stadium (maybe 15-20 minute walk). Common areas of hotel were in great shape and there is a nice exercise facility and indoor pool. Breakfast seating area is large and comfortable. If you are looking for a hotel with easy access to the freeway, this hotel is probably not for you. Illinois’ campus is several miles from the nearest freeway exit.

A little out of the way from the rest. Nice, modern accommodations and a very comfortable room layout with a kitchenette, studio LR/bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Great shower! Breakfast was adequate with flattened fried eggs, spicy potatoes, pre-cooked bacon, muffins and bagels. The location was a little out of the way from most of the other chain hotels Champaign, in an older, kind of industrial part of town that looks like the city is starting to update.
