Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston

A 1 because there is no way to give it a 0. Not safe! The only reason this gets a 1 is because there is no way to give it a 0. This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. We drove up to find two guys in the parking lot drinking and smoking. When my wife got out of the car. There was no place to park. There were two large men at the front door with no identification. Inside there was no one at the temporary desk. We left because it was not safe. The reason we selected this hotel was because our son-in-law was having cancer surgery at MUSC. Our attempt to get our money back was a disaster and they would not even let us cancel the second night even though we never checked in. We went across the street to a very pleasant Holiday Inn express. Unless you love, disappointment and confrontation, never even consider staying here!

Great value. Currently being renovated so a little dusty and noisy, but the room was clean. Bedding needed replacing. Maybe this was the reason for a very reasonable price which was the main attraction along with Choice loyalty. Great location near Charleston attractions.

Ruined vacation On Monday morning 12/16/2024 at 830am there were things dropping right above my room and at around 9am non-stop loud drillings started. This was not some white noise where it’s still tolerable. The drillings were so loud that nobody can stay or rest in this environment. I was here on my vacation. I could have slept on a bench in a public area for free and be less annoyed! Why did Comfort Inn rent out room like this to guests when they’re having renovations? I called the front desk for over 10 minutes but no one answered. I then went downstairs and there was a lady talking on the phone taking a reservation. Only one person working in this 7 floors hotel? I waited for her to get done and asked her to explain what’s going on with the loud drillings. All she said was “I apologize for this inconvenience but we have put out signs about the renovations.” I told her if no one can stay in this loud environment (including her) then why did they rent out this room knowing that the noise is unbearable? I then asked to speak with the manager. This lady said the manager is busy at the time but will get in touch with me. After half hour in my room with the constant loud drillings waiting for the manager, I called the front desk again to follow up. She said she just texted the manager again. After another 15min the manager called. She basically said the same thing but added the fact that the renovation signs were already up there when I came in to the hotel and I should have read the sign. And she said she couldn’t do anything to resolve this because it’s basically my fault for not reading the renovation signs in the front. As pathetic as she is, I explained that first of all, you don’t rent out rooms to guests if it’s not livable in the first place. I said if you yourself can’t stay in this constant loud-drilling environment room then why did you let guests make reservation? She said many guests are ok with this noise. I realized that she is beyond pathetic. I also asked her why didn’t she put me on the first or second floor after she said the renovation is on the fifth floor through seventh (and I was on the fourth floor). She said she can hear the loud noise even on the second floor. She just shot her own foot! This hotel management is basically out there making money at the expense of guests knowing full well that these rooms are not livable. These affected rooms should not be available to anyone in the first place. You can’t just put a renovation sign out there and considered it as beforehand warning.

Superb location....when upgrades are complete this will be a super destination for Charleston and environs. Room appointments and bed/bath lines were fine....we were not alerted to ongoing construction until we arrived... front desk employees were courteous, helpful and knowledgeable of local area with accurate travel directions and advice. Valet service was on the spot and ready to help.

AWESOME _ The staff here is Awesome, friendly very caring people!!! Kudos to you all!! I'm still here will be for a little bit longer but just know you guys are Awesome , remodeling and all!! Even the noise from remodeling wasn't annoying the guys and gals doing the remodel were just as helpful and friendly.
