Holiday Inn St Petersburg N - Clearwater by IHG

BEDBUGS! BEDBUGS!!! High school sports team trip. Multiple students came back with bedbugs in their suitcases and bites everywhere!!!! A certified K9 confirmed this as did a physician! Dirty hotel and no measures taken on their part to provide a clean safe stay!

Krystal D and Jason were fantastic staff to start our day The room was clean with a very comfortable king size bed. The front desk was very nice and always waved or said hello on our way in or out. But this review is mainly for server Krystal D and Jason the cook who were an excellent and welcoming team during breakfast!!! Thank you!

Not inviting. Dark and Dated As a solo female traveler I arrived at 6:30 p.m., the entrance is not well- designated and had to ask the valet at the nextdoor Steakhouse for directions on how to get to the hotel. The parking lot was dark with a couple of dim lights at end of the lot and a poorly lit portico. The lobby was also poorly lit. The night shift front desk clerk voluntarily apologized for the poorly lit areas. The “2” restaurants is a restaurant with different sitting areas, one for morning service and one for the evening. The elevator landing area was also very poorly lit. Not wanting to tempt the parking lot, I choose to order takeaway from the Tavern. The food was okay. The room was clean, dated and dark. I placed my luggage in front of door. The next morning I noted the outside of the building and windows need to be cleaned, a green film covering both. I did voice my concerns regarding safety and comfort to the front desk supervisor when checking out. As a Gold Elite IHG member I expected better from a Holiday Inn.

Musty run down room Note, I am IHG Platinum but this time I booked through a 3rd party so I dont think they recognized my status. Not sure if this affected the room they gave me. Upon walking in the room, I notice it was extremely humid and there was a musty/moldy odor in the room. I arrived fairly late and was only staying the night. I had trouble getting the shower hot water to work. They sent a maintenance guy and it was a minor issue with the shower knob. The water pressure from the wand was very low but he said that is the best it can do. I asked about the musty smell. He pointed at the black dots on the popcorn ceiling and said the this type of ceiling attracts mold growth. The room was near the pool. Thinking this might be the cause, I asked him if it would be worth switching rooms. He told me they all had the same issue. The bed was not very comfortable. It was sagging pretty badly. This is probably one of the worst HI I've stayed at. I've stayed at much better in the Tampa metro area and won't be returning.

It’s the little things First, yes! The staff are wonderful - polite, friendly and efficient (funny too). The tavern was nice, but seemed to cater to the 3 “regulars”. A little slow, and the server/ bartended waited on others first that came in 10 minutes after us. There were initially 5 of us then 7 total patrons, so not “busy” at all. Server was very pleasant and food from the limited menu was very tasty, though the order was a little off and slow to arrive. It was however corrected quickly. Just was mostly disappointed in the room. Granted, it is near the airport, but didn’t realize it was directly below a flight path - so roaring takeoffs. That’s my fault too for not checking these things better. Just like the pay not free “bright” breakfast (pay in restaurant). Other guests kept us up until 11:45pm. Not well insulated. One person sneezed; my wife, in a normal speaking voice said God bless you. Person responded “Thank You”! The room was missing the pictured “easy chair”. The AC cycled constantly and was very noisy. It wheezed at the end of a burst of cool air. The floor lamp flickered, the bedside lamps flickered and my CPAP cycled on and off (we had to pull the mattress out to plug the dangling cord in). The one switch for the light in the bathroom did both light and fan which was also terribly noisy. The outlet in the bathroom came out when my wife removed her flat iron. The tub/shower diverter was seised up. The toilet is the older style 14” from the floor. Elevators were intermittently uncooperative. Pushed the 1st floor button and it didn’t light and the doors didn’t close. Took several attempts at different times (we were there 2 nights) Just a lot of little things.
