Great Stay at the Canvas Hotel Dallas The Staff was very friendly. We stayed two nights midweek. The hotel was not very busy. Our King Loft room was nice and clean. The king bed was very comfortable. The picture on our tv had a blue tone. There was no light switch on the left side of the bed. The window had a window shade and a small amount of light came in at night. It would have been nice to have sheer curtains to leave the shade up during the day and still have some privacy. There was only one towel hook in the bathroom to hang a bath towels. We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant. It was all good. The parking was next to the hotel. The view of downtown Dallas from the roof top lounge is fantastic. The drinks (beer and cocktails) were a little expensive. We enjoyed our stay.

Save your money. Stay somewhere else… My company sent me to scout several hotels in the Dallas area for an upcoming conference. We would be needing approximately 75-100 rooms. One of the hotels I had chosen to visit was the Canvas. From the looks of photos online I thought it would be an eclectic, cool place. Near downtown Dallas, rooftop bar, industrial looking rooms. I arrived on Friday afternoon, excited about my stay. Upon arrival I had to wait for a room to be ready. They took my credit card information for a $100.00 deposit for incidentals. It showed the charge went through on my end, but evidently not on theirs, so my card had to be manually entered into their system. I wasn’t real happy about the possibility of having $200.00 charged. I was then given my key and I proceeded to my room. The room was down a dark hallway, the area seemed closed off. A luggage cart right in the middle of the hallway, just past my room. I settle into my room, scan a QR code to order some food. Placed my ordered and about 30 minutes later it’s delivered. I lifted the lid off my food. I ordered the Canvas burger, craft fries, and a cheesecake. They offered no drinks on the menu, so I would have to go down to the lobby to purchase a soda. Prior to doing so, I turned on the tv to watch a movie. The television picture was distorted and of all things purple. Purple screen, purple movie. I called the front desk and the gentleman tells me, “ Oh yeah, haha. We’re renovating rooms. The televisions pictures are going out in some of the rooms. Guess you just got one and I don’t know what rooms have new tv’s so moving you would be hit and miss.” Room service didn’t offer drinks, so I had to go down to the lobby to purchase a soda for $3.00 each. The person at the desk comes out. I mentioned the issue with the tv being purple and she laughs. Tells me, “ most people complain of the screens being blue. Purple is much better.” She laughs again. I guess making guests forcing guests to watch broken, distorted televisions is not a big deal. They will take your money ( I paid close to $200.00 for the room, plus almost $44.00 for food and drinks). When I returned to my room I sat down to eat my dinner. The hamburger was not on a hamburger bun but Texas toast. The bread was soggy from all the grease of the burger. The fries were cold and limp. Needless to say my stay was not a good one. No television, horrible food, room hot because the thermostat wouldn’t go lower than 68 degrees. It would have been nice if someone would have informed me of all the issues when I checked in and maybe given me the option of returning my money so I can find a room elsewhere but that didn’t happen. No one offered to comp my room, my food, or anything. I will not be selecting this hotel for my companies conference. So if you’re looking for a nice hotel… this isn’t it.

Fun weekend The view was amazing and food was delicious. We enjoyed for different reasons we like unusual hotels, This hotel is an industrial restoration and repurpose. If you are expecting full blown contemporary luxury you may be disappointed. I encourage you to check it out is a unique experience.

Christmas 2025 This was my third year to stay at the hotel and as long as my company keeps doing our Christmas parties at Gilley's Dallas I'll keep coming back. The hotel's location to Gilley's is perfect. I live near Denton & don't want to drive back home late at night, so the hotel is convenient for me plus I utilize the valet service also. The only drawback I have with the hotel is that the sink in the bathroom is to high for me. I'm only 4' tall & I have to stand on my tip toes to be able to brush my teeth. So this year I brought my own step stool & it worked out perfectly. It also allowed my to use the adjustable mirror on the wall. Other than that I love the hotel.
