Disappointing service, facilities and room Overall, a disappointing experience. No mention that check in and check out are electronic. Minimal staff and of those there are, limited experience and knowledge. Useful having a guest laundry. Food options were limited. Pre booked an accessible room which was not made up correctly on arrival. Bathroom floors are tiled in gloss tile so are quite dangerous when wet. No way to contact reception from the room other than by phoning the external number. Overall, for a major chain the stay was not satisfactory especially given the costs. OzJane

Decent mid-range hotel Given the insane prices often charged by Darwin hotels, Rydges Darwin is a decent option if you just want a room and little else. Room are a good size, quiet and mine at least was recently renovated with a new bathroom. Location is excellent, right in the middle of the city with the Esplanade and Smith Street just 5 minutes’ walk, and the waterfront 15 minutes. However, there is no dining on site, the pool is not much bigger than a spa pool, the main entrance is a laneway, and check in is meant to be done at a kiosk, though staff magically appear if you look like you’re struggling.

Great location Rydges is always reliable for great customer service and clean rooms. Rydges Darwin is no different. Located one street back from Mitchell Street, it is centrally located to all night-time entertainment. The lack of service desk (or anything for staff) means a self-serve check-in and out is required. The room is spacious but very dated. The small TV makes it difficult to watch from the bed area. Two single-beds pushed together = uncomfortable bed. Self-serve laundry facilities are available at a cost. The staff are friendly and the hotel is clean. Perfect for if you are out and about around Darwin.

Good for a quick stay, close to everything This was a good hotel for a one night stay, it was close to everything, the staff were friendly especially the young Irish man who helped us check in and told us all about things to see in Darwin. It was a shame there was no restaurant, my kids enjoyed the pool. The room was clean, the beds comfy, and the hotel was quiet.

Disappointed with Rydges The Check in staff were very helpful, allowing us into our room early . We have stayed here several times previously and so were disappointed to find the Breakfast room and lounge bar closed. The swimming pool was locked and obviously had not been cleaned for some time. The room was very comfortable but all communications had to be done on their app which we found difficult to access.
