It Was Okay. It was okay. Nothing horrible, nothing great. I checked in late, and the nice man at the front desk gave me a suite upgrade. I didn't really need it, but it was nice. The room smelled incredibly strong of some kind of cleaner or antiseptic. While I appreciate the effort, it was really overwhelming. The room was mainly clean, with the stray hair or crumb here and there. I think a little more attention could be given to cleaning, especially considering how these days they don't even do daily cleaning anymore. If you only have to clean the room one time per guest stay, make it a thorough cleaning. I appreciated the free breakfast. It was standard free hotel breakfast, but the sausage was under cooked and the eggs were extremely dry and clumpy. Anyway, I didn't expect a lot more, so I gave it the average rating. What I saw of the area seemed fine...not sketchy or anything. It's fine for a night.

Disgusting, sub-standard, does not meet normal standards of "cleanliness". Avoid. Disgusting. Floors/carpet sticky, bathroom not cleaned. Filth on and under toilet seat, more filth in tub. You'd not want to use it, I didn't, is was too gross. Breakfast was dried out, meager, stale-looking offerings of questionable origins, I passed on that too. Didn't want to get sick, as we were traveling and that's an awful time for a tummy ache. Seemed like they wanted to skimp on everything. They even shorted the blackout curtains to save a few bucks. They are not big enough to cover the entire window, so you're stuck with parking lot floodlights blasting in your eyes while you try to sleep. Nice, huh? Until these folks can quit trying to pinch a penny at your expense as a guest, and achieve a generally accepted standard of cleanliness, I'd avoid them entirely. It was really gross. There are several other hotels in town, choose one of those you'll be happier.

Needs updates and better housekeeping When we first walked into the hotel there was a smell of mold but that was somewhat understandable as the pool was just beyond the check in desk. Got to our room and found a nasty stain on the chair. Breakfast was just nothing to write home about which I don't expect anything exceptional at a hotel of this nature. However, the breakfast room was not crowded at all but the table next to ours was covered in crumbs and dirty. We were there for at least 30 minutes and no one came to wipe it down. Extra chairs were stacked up by a window instead of bing stored somewhere. All in all I found a total lack of pride and cleanliness at this location.

Prepare for $150 charge to your card I prepaid for my room on a booking site. When the hotel asked for a credit card for incidentals, I didn't think anything of it - all hotels ask for that. It wasn't until after my family checked out that I noticed a $150 charge from this hotel. I called and asked why I was charged, and I was told that it was a "service charge for third party booking". I called the booking site to ask why that was not disclosed up front. They said the hotel can't add charges like that - it's against their agreement. They called the hotel and were told that it was a "deposit for incidentals" and that it had already been refunded. This is not true. 9 days later it has still not been refunded. I will never have family stay at this hotel again.

Gone Downhill I have stayed at this location several times over the past 10-15 years when visiting family. Their answering machine states "newly renovated", but it's probably been at least 5 years since any renovation. Pros: The rooms have nice, new duvet covers. Their beds & pillows are fantastic! Their staff is very welcoming & friendly. The breakfast is very good along with the cookies & lemonade in the afternoon-evening. The indoor pool is nice! A Waffle House & McDonald's are right next to the hotel & across the street there is a Meijers, urgent care, and multiple restaurants. Cons: The rooms need to be updated and cleaned throughly. I would describe them as filthy. The bathroom has "dirt-crud" around the doors and furniture. Mold in the showers, bleach stains on the countertop, rust on door frames, drywall patches, vent dusty, and the hair dryer only worked on low. Anywhere a trash can is located, the wall is dirty behind it. The carpets were filthy. My white socks turned black quickly, the curtains had tears, and the closet door wouldn't stay shut. They no longer clean rooms daily, unless requested. The sign said the room would be cleaned after every 3rd day. Suggest coffee be available 24 hours. Do not get a King bed room as they are right next to the noisy elevator on the 2nd & 3rd floors. You don't want to hear that all the time. Overall this hotel is slightly better than the sketchy Motel 6 behind the hotel. This hotel was more expensive & the room cleanliness was bad. I am not sure I'll return to this location. As for Corporate: I tried using their "Best Price Guarantee" (match price & give you a $50 gift card). I found the same room/date/type about $12 cheaper per night on another website. I submitted the form with links & screenshots. I got a reply that I needed to submit it again (?) on their website. However it gives you a new confirmation number. I had deleted most of the screenshots, so I went back to the site & it was still lower, but more than it was when I first submitted it. Plus, by the time I got the request to resubmit, it was past the 3 day window for submitting it. I have not pursued this further.
