Not going to sugarcoat it, but we were lied to We went to GenCon in Indianapolis (largest board and role-playing game convention in America) and we planned out trip to allow us to get there and get home with some measure of comfort. So we booked a hotel at the halfway point on the way there and booked this hotel which is only two hours away. The main reason we chose this hotel was that they advertised a hot tub. Something for which after four days of walking several miles through a sea of geekdom at the convention would have been a godsend on old and tired bones. When we booked this hotel at the end of June, we asked if the hot tub was still in operation. They said that it was. We asked if they were planning to shut it down during the time around our stay. They said that they had no plans to. When we arrived and were checking, I made a joke about wanting to hit the hot tub, no comments issued forth from the desk clerk. At no point during any of those interactions did they mention that the hot tub had been out of service for over a year. Over. A. Year. We were lied to and this was upsetting. The whole point of taking this hotel was that we needed the hot tub to help with stiff leg muscles, tired feet, and after the con would have been a nice and relaxing treat. Had we known that this was an issue, that the tub was out, we would have chosen another hotel that did have one. Some of the other issues we had involved poor maintenance standards. Both the room we were assigned and one we were offered as a secondary option smelled of harsh chemicals and an underlying smell we could not agree upon. Wife thought tobacco, but we were uncertain. Neither room's bathtub had a stopper and maintenance had to come out twice with different stoppers to fix ours and initially wanted US to replace it. Which would have not been pleasant as he grabbed the wrong one. The pool had two ladders to get and out of and on the one closest to the door, had a broken top rung. Maintenance standards have fallen off and I've already passed this along to corporate as I'd like to hope that even if is this an independently owned/managed facility...they'd be concerned about to which hotels bear their brand.

Absolute shifty thieves I did not stay here as it were, fortunately. But I did pay for it in full booking it, and when I went to show up in person, I had a surprise (potentially imposed on me) arbitrary and excessive $100 security deposit as a second sale. I refuse to take delivery of the room, and I refused to handover my credit card for the extra surprise, arbitrary $100 so-called security deposit, and I left. I booked a room in the Motel 6 across the street. You have to understand how an $82 total room was now suddenly going for an additional $25 plus taxes for pet and $100 plus taxes for so-called security deposit. No deal. However, this touch-0, prevaricating merchant called my refusal to take the room in person a no-show, and they refuse to give AAA the money back to me. Liars. I got my own refund through Chase, God bless them. I took a trip from Massachusetts to California and back. I had to see a specialist in California and by this point in the trip coming back from California to Massachusetts I had had several excellent experiences with Quality Inns. In general, they offered nice rooms, a low pet fee for a dog, personable people, very decent breakfast and solid rooms. And quite frankly, that is how an outfit like this can ensnare you. It’s late, you’ve been driving for 12 hours or 600 miles, with a pet, and you look at AAA booking site and you see at 8 o’clock at night another Quality Inn. You’re You’re tired and you can’t pick through the reviews. You trust the Quality IInn experiences that you’ve had on your trip. Well, by 8:50 PM, I was there in person and refusing the room because of their breach of contract with the surprise excessive fee, and it should’ve been a very simple thing for them to just send the money back. Let me risk a slippery slope, and I will bring race and culture into this for a moment, as I went 6200 miles across and back the country within two weeks, and I observed this, it’s a fact, and I think I’ve earned commenting about it in as circumspect and sensitive way as I can. Most of these hotels are franchises owned and managed by people of Indian or Pakistani culture and nationality. It’s just a fact, and you will see them giving service of five stars, hospitality of five stars in general. They’re very good at it, and we’re the better for it, in general. However, this place had the most obstreperous, obstructive, evasive, prevaricating, sneaky, shifty, Indian or Pakistani woman apparently running things. She was easily one of the top five most disagreeable people I have ever met in my life and that’s on her. That is her fault, not mine. I will tell you one other thing that I observed here. It’s a very peculiar little hotel economy on this Miller’s lane. There is lots of competition, and since in the country, there’s a national shortage of housing, affordable housing for people, these hotels are renting to weekly and monthly renters, people who are scrambling to find something better for their families. I observed this, for example at the motel six where I stayed for a night across the street. And in that case, there was a gentleman owner of Indian or Pakistani culture, and he was very reasonable to do business with. I observed him offering to refund the money to this young father and honestly, I thought the young father was trying to pull a scam for cash claim that had cockroaches. So in this Quality Inn’s case , maybe they had had damage as they alleged, and thus a need for security deposits, but they also had long term “renters” as did the Motel 6. So the Motel 6 didn’t charge a security deposit for travelers passing through. Why did this quality inn need to try a security deposit?

Steer Clear If I could give this 0, I would. Staff is rude and refused anything and everything within reason. Got a room that was so hot, it felt like a sauna. Tried to turn the air on, but the unit kept blowing out hot air. Went to lobby and waited over 15 min for someone to come acknowledge another man and me. He switched our rooms, but that unit didn’t work in the room either. It sounded like a garbage disposal and had hot air. Employee attempted to “fix” the original room’s unit, but didn’t. Said they had no other rooms so we either had to deal with one of the two rooms or find somewhere else to stay. I asked if they could call elsewhere and they tried another hotel, but they were booked. I asked for a refund and I was told no cause that’s “their policy” and employee refused to get manager and said they wouldn’t talk to us even if they were available. My spouse got a better look in the room and said it was dirty and glad we didn’t stay. It’s a shame to be this close to a military base where they could have a great deal of guests. Corporate was useless in this situation and I wish they would pull their franchise license cause this is not a Quality Hotel standard.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!! NEVER EVER GO HERE!! This is the absolute worst place EVER!!! If I could give this negative stars I would. My family and I did not feel safe whatsoever upon arriving. Once checking into our room to give the hotel a chance, there was MOLD in the fridge (mind you I am highly highly allergic to mold which the front desk was aware of) , multiple stains on the bedsheets, pillows, and curtains, water damage on the doors, exposed wires hanging from the smoke alarm, much much dirt behind the tv stand. 20 minutes after checking in, I called Choice Hotels to get a refund and they told me to talk to the manager since it was privately managed. The manager got back with me after TWO HOURS then told me it wasn't her problem the room is messed up and deal with it and Choice Hotels had to refund us. After another 20 minute phone call with Choice Hotels, they were not able to give us a refund. On the sign outside the hotel, it says indoor pool. However, the pool is closed all together. To top it all off, the men's restroom was down so everyone was using the same restroom. Imagine your daughter using the same restroom at the same time as a 65 year old man. Mind you, this is a stall bathroom, NOT a single restroom. YUCK!!!
