Clarion Hotel

DeLand Hotel---good value The staff was very helpful and the rate was really reasonable (Stetson rate). The hotel was a bit dated with its furniture, but the bed was comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. If there had been four people in the room, there would have been enough room for luggage.

Clarion now The Deland Hotel worst ever!! This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The good news is it is cheap and somewhat clean. The bad news is it is totally disorganized. They don't give confirmation numbers which should give you a clue. When you check in or out they have all of the bills/reservations spread all over the counter and can't find anything. They lost mine! Save yourself from frustration---stay some place better!!!

It's not named the Clarion Inn but Deland something Stayed on a Friday night with 25 high school kids. I guess it's being remodeled. We did not see any such activity. When you drew the curtains back in the room the frame of the glass doors leading out had paint peeling off the wall. Stayed Oct 3rd, 2014. First time ever staying in a bottom floor room, did not like having a double glassed door leading out. Carpets felt like they had a film on them to the feet, so wore socks. On the small side for a room with two double beds. No exhaust fan in the shower, so fogged up. Lighting is not the best. We were located two rooms off the lobby and elevator, so we heard a bit of noise and when the room next to us became occupied late in the night we heard a lot of noise. Which means the walls are thin. We saw some smaller worse hotels in town so this may be the best choice for the area. Sheets smelled clean with nice plush pillows. Bed comforter, well at least it didn't smell bad but not as nice as the sheets. I do have allergies and slept ok. It is near to Stetson college and downtown. Can't walk but only about a 5 minute drive. Our bathroom and shower had a door leaving the sink and mirror in a tight spot just inside the entrance door to the room. Not the best floor plan. The bathroom fixtures looked fairly new. OHHHHH and as far as the Free Wi Fi and one persons comments that it had been updated and was fast. We got NO signal once we entered the building. So had to call or text everyone. Needless to say the students were not happy. We did not explore other rooms. The breakfast area is very small, maybe 4 to 5 tables.

Very kind people - THANKYOU. Had to leave the hotel next door, asthma due to toxic chemical cleaners. This Hotel booked me in, upgraded me to a suite with a balcony as I was having a problem breathing and couldnt have been more helpful. There was a lot of updating work going on at this old hotel, I expect by next year it will be much higher rated, I certainly enjoyed my stay and breakfast with the staff . . . recommend.

Great WIFi! New owners are working hard to update the hotel. One of the first updates was a completely new state of the art WiFi network. The service is complementary to guests, and coverage is excellent throughout the entire property. Speedtest results showed a rate of 7Mbps by 1Mbps, which is more than enough for streaming HD movies, gaming, etc. Keep it up Clarion! Hotel is convenient to all areas of Deland, and a short drive from Daytona Beach.
