An amazing wedding venue! We got married here back in April & it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The venue is lovely & in a great location, the hotel was clean & modern and staff were very friendly & accommodating. The wedding planning process from beginning to end run smoothly & this wouldn’t have been possible without the staff, especially our wedding coordinator Kiki. From our initial meeting, she understood everything we wanted & made it happen. She was always available & no request was ever too much. We are very thankful she was part of our day!!

Stayed here for two nights, but not again We stayed for two nights, we arrived and asked how to get to our room, we were told”that way”as the man pointed to the stairs, we took our cases and spent a good ten minutes trying to find our room, we returned to reception to find that we had to go across the garden to get to our room. When we got there we found that the toilet in our room was blocked , this was fixed the next day. The bathroom was not clean, the shower head needed a good clean, there was toothpaste and dirty marks on the wall, these remained there during our stay. The bedroom and the bed were, however, clean. At breakfast the first morning we sat down at a table as there were no staff about, we went to get some fruit juice when a member of staff came up to us and asked our room number, she then, very loudly, told us we couldn’t have breakfast as we had not paid (we had paid on booking) she kept saying “no breakfast , you haven’t paid” and told us to sit down. Everyone in the restaurant was looking!! It was very embarrassing. She went to get another member of staff who eventually said we could finally have breakfast as we had paid! The breakfast was poor and tasteless, the cold meat tray had no cover and there were lots of flies on the meat. We won’t be returning to this hotel, which is such a shame as it was so convenient for the train station.

Average with potential A mixed review as this hotel has potential but is in early months of a takeover so a little chaotic. Fantastic welcome from the chap on Reception who went above and beyond to welcome us and even supported with taking us to the room to explain the key code system and took our luggage. Barman was also very accommodating, he was taking drinks to the restaurant as well as serving behind the bar so some waiting was required but he couldn’t have been more helpful. However I’m afraid restaurant staff were not up to par with their customer service. We watched food being returned from other tables although have to say ours was ok and average. The waitress was more concerned with wiping tables rather than serving and getting the bills out. She then shouted at us because she took so long to return for payment that we left the cash on the table to be rudely informed that they don’t take cash. I’m afraid that experience ensured that we didn’t use the restaurant again over the rest of our stay. When the fire alarm went off early in the morning we went to ask Reception after the event what happened, a satisfactory explanation was given and where an apology would have been appropriate we were then asked by the member of staff on duty if we were checking out when we were staying another night! The positives were the outdoor pool was lovely, room comfortable although a bit tired, but accept that the new owners are finding their feet. Public areas were clean and welcoming. So credit where it is due to the staff who made us feel welcome but do please consider some training for others who were less hospitable.

Ok, but could be better. Clearly now under new ownership and they are making improvements already. That said, some of the fundamentals need work, litter in the grounds, dirty bar glasses and general up keep.

Double charged - really unhelpful Double charged for the room. Did not realise until after my stay. Manager/staff really not interested in refunding. Zero communication from them. I would avoid, highly unprofessional, certainly not interested in helping. In addition - breakfast was embarrassing for the guests. Dirty breakfast buffet, half empty and not refilled. Rushed half cooked food. £17 for what was essentially a piece of toast, a half cooked sausage and a very poor machine coffee. Clearly understaffed.
