If they had 10-star, we'd choose that! What a wonderful stay; Rick was on his own as Allison was attending a wedding, but he was an exceptional host!! He made sure we knew every detail possible to make our stay great, then turned us loose to explore and relax. We stayed in the Cardinal room - we loved it! Comfortable bed, sweet room and view, too. This over 200 year old home is beautifully maintained with exceptional attention to detail in every nook and cranny. We ate a salad on the screened porch, went to the Warehouse restaurant (onion rings are amazing), leftovers were provided a fridge, we were offered coffee, etc., 24/7. Breakfast was SO good...Rick can cook! We came at the end of October and even then the yard was still lovely. We booked through 'hotels.com' and they sent a link to review with after we left - we tried, and although we chose 'exceptional', it kept choosing 'very good' - which wasn't good enough. I can't edit there (tried multiple times) but wanted folks to know what a great spot this place in the little town of Dresden is. The drive from there to WV was very pretty, too! Winding roads and hills, but truly lovely. The only thing to keep in mind is the stairs to the two rooms upstairs are quite steep (this house was built the same year as the revolutionary war), so if stairs are an issue you may have to request the first floor room, but we didn't mind the stairs at all, they added to the ambience!

Hark! Listen to my story of the magical time at The Pines of Dresden! When one decides to take a trip for one's birthday, it is always fun to look at all of the possibilities. But nothing beats going somewhere that is quaint, peaceful, and most of all, the perfect time to catch up with old friends. The Pines of Dresden fulfills all of these things and so much more. I will be perfectly honest with all of you. I have never been to an actual bed and breakfast. Of course, I had seen movies and tv that portray them as quaint affairs but I had never personally experienced one. So everything about The Pines was new and exciting and beautiful and amazing and oh so memorable. When you first arrive, you are treated to a scene straight out of a postcard. The noble house has stood the test of times and now it welcomes guests on a regular basis. The entire yard is surrounded with benches and swings and hammocks along with a gazebo and a fire pit to welcome you and to enjoy during your stay. As you walk in, you are immediately hit with an incredible sense of time just passing away. The common room is comfortable and inviting with it's coffee and hot tea stations and probably the best rocking chair I have ever felt. I spent some time in that rocking chair and let me tell: it's perfect for reading! Depends on where your room is you will either be going downstairs or upstairs. My room was downstairs so I was lucky to pass thru the most amazing kitchen just waiting for people to sit down and eat. For breakfast, you can share that table with the other guests and experience a delicious breakfast cooked by the amazing Allison. Her beauty shines thru with her cooking and her wonderful stories. Finally, when I get to my room, I automatically feel at home. You know how sometimes it is difficult to get comfortable at night to sleep? Well, I do have that problem the first night but not here. So comfortable and quaint. To quote the legendary Eagles, The Pines gave me a peaceful easy feeling. During my time there, I took full advantage of the small town atmosphere that lent an extra feeling of security and peacefulness. Waking up before breakfast gave me to the opportunity to prepare some hot tea and sit outside in the front. This is going out to everyone! Don't underestimate the beautiful porch in the front. It is sometimes forgotten but it has a wonderful charm. And that view in the morning overlooking the front...truly heaven! As mentioned before, I spent some time reading during my stay. Along with the magical rocking chair, the gazebo is the ideal spot for reading during any kind of weather. Not just reading...you can also enjoy a drink or two...and if you feel very adventurous, you can stroll around the beautiful Pines yard. In this crazy world, we seldom have time to settle down and truly enjoy nature and the world around us. I highly recommend a visit to The Pines of Dresden and give your body and soul a chance to unwind and be thankful that a place like this exists in this crazy world. By far, one of the best things about The Pines is that it provides the perfect location to catch up with old friends and family. On a more personal note, I have known Allison for about 20 years and this was an excellent time to catch up with her. Every day, I saw how much this place was important to her and I can see how it truly fulfills her soul. Whether you come down with friends or your family, you will find that the setting gives everyone the perfect opportunity to catch up and re-connect again. While there, take advantage of socializing with the other guests. During my stay, I met a fun bunch of people that I shared drinks with who were there to relax and enjoy life. On another day, I shared breakfast and talks with a beautiful family that allowed me that chance to help their son with math. All in all, The Pines gives off such beautiful vibes that allow anyone to come and feel welcome. As you can tell from my review, I wanted to truly give details but also impressions and thoughts about my stay at The Pines of Dresden. I wish I could go back sooner rather than later. Being welcomed by Allison and Oreo and Toby and Pepper was truly wonderful and I cannot wait to go back. While I have never had a bed and breakfast experience before this stay, The Pines of Dresden has set the bar for all others to come. May you and yours enjoy this magical place soon! Thank you...

Anniversary Weekend We had a marvelous visit, and definitely recommend this B&B to the world!! Allison is a hoot, and by far the best hostess we have experienced. The Pines is a grand old dame of a building that has been carefully maintained, and has great rooms for it's guests. The breakfast was remarkable, and the conversation around the table, as well as the previous evening, made for a very enjoyable social gathering. We hope to return with friends. Linda and Denny
