VEGAN UNFRIENDLY This hotel has the most vegan-unfriendly breakfast I've ever seen. It's all meat and eggs, and not even margarine for the toast. It's like Holiday Inn is still in the 19th century. Apart from that: the room was clean (if run-down), and it was convenient having a small fridge and microwave in the room. Staff were friendly. Though the view is of a parking lot, and the hotel is markedly unattractive, the location is convenient--right near 680, which gets you anywhere you like in Syracuse.

DO NOT STAY HERE The first room I was given had a chunk missing from the door where the lock goes (NO THANKS). I was kindly given another room, which seemed great, and comfortable, until I used the toilet. I was told it was recently renovated, but whoever did their plumbing did not do a good job! The toilet spewed all over the floor from the back pipe when I flushed, and the sink leaked everywhere. I had to use every towel in the bathroom to save the room from being flooded! I didn't dare shower. I will NOT BE BACK. The only good things about this hotel was the lady at the front desk when I arrived, and the gentleman when I left. They were kind and helpful.

Seen Better Days I have stayed here twice previously, in 2010 and 2012. Both times I left favorable reviews. Now, 11 years after my last visit, I can say this place definitely is in need of a facelift. There is a sign in lobby saying something about renovations, and they are desperately needed. Rooms are large but dated: torn curtains, worn out bed, small television (by todays standards), peeling wallpaper in the washroom and signs of mold. One thing a renovation won't help are the wooden floors: you can hear every step from the room above yours. This hotel is in a good location and will be a good place to stay, once renovations are complete.

Mold issue in bathroom Although the lobby, employees and breakfast room are very nice, our third floor room and hall were not. As soon as the elevator doors opened you can smell a moldy gross smell and the carpets are stained. In the bathroom there is visible mold behind the peeling wallpaper. Who puts wallpaper in a steamy bathroom?? Such a bad idea.

Worn Out Furniture, Not Well Maintained, Nice People If all Holiday Inn Express hotels were like this, we would not stay at them anymore. The room was dirty. Stains on worn furniture. Corner protectors coming off the wall. Bathroom had the worst caulking job I have ever seen. We lift cushions to check problems (to their credit, there were not any) and it was fairly obvious that it was not cleaned beneath them. We pay extra so that we can sit on the couch and read before bed, but there was only one lamp, so no reading for one of us. Furniture was badly worn. We would not keep that at home. Black mold on the shower head. The electric plugs built into the lamp bases were so worn that charging plugs did not work. They just rattled in place. One LED bulb barely glowed and could not be turned off nor on. A light stripe on the bathroom floor near the shower shows that area does not get cleaned leaving a soap scum. We got only bath towels. The person at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and got us wash and hand towels. Terrible caulking job around the tub just shows that the people just do not care. The people were very nice! Quick on and off the Interstate. Nothing to walk to as the restaurant next door was permanently closed in October 2023. The staff nicely recommended the excellent Dark Horse Tavern a 10 minute drive away.
