Wonderful place to stay I wanted to commend the Red Lion Inn in Eureka. We stayed there for a trip for my son playing baseball against the local Humboldt Crabs. We had a great stay, comfy beds, very clean. I would recommend this place and we will be back. Special kudos to staff member, Connie Fay, she helped us to have a wonderful stay :)

Extremely expensive, horrible customer service, property in disrepair, General Manager does not honor Sonesta benefits We drove six hours to get to Eureka to see the nearby redwood trees and decided to stay at this extremely expensive Sonesta property because I am Platinum elite with Sonesta. The person checking me in completely ignored my status and just wanted to check me in. The other person at the front desk had the audacity to say to me "... calm down..." as I asked questions about my elite status being ignored fully (included hot breakfast, included room upgrade, the Sonesta cards were sitting right there on their front desk), yet our clerk just wanted to get my credit card and get us checked in to what would be the wrong room and ignore what it took for me to get this status. The general manager ended up coming out, we discussed upgrading our room, but we were denied any different breakfast that what every guest receives: we would have to pay for a hot breakfast. When we got to our room for what was supposed to be a three-night stay, we found the room and the hotel in terrific need of maintenance. The room was large, but the furniture was miniscule for the size of the room. The pillows were so thick they were unusable and made of rubber. The hotel is in such need of deferred and other maintenance and in such terrible condition on top of how they treat their customers, particularly elite Sonesta guests, we decided to leave the next day. Check out is normally 11am and when I inquired about the late checkout for a Sonesta Platinum, the general manager told me noon. I had never heard of such a thing and knew she was lying to me. And we were supposed to be in that room for the next two nights so no one was scheduled to be there. Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, IHG/Holiday Inn all have Elite check outs as late as 4pm and I get those regularly, and we were told noon. I would have expected nothing different based on this property, how our check in went, and how every benefit of being a Sonesta Platinum was fully ignored for our $220 rate. We would have gotten the same thing at the Wyndham's Travelodge down the street for less than half the price. I have stayed at Red Lion properties before, and this one is a 1 out of 10 compared to them. We drove about five hours to a Hyatt near Napa Valley. We lost out on spending more time in the redwoods. That this Red Lion is located in a challenging location does not mean it can take advantage of guests, but it does. So much time wasted to arrive at this Red Lion Eureka, and so much time to get to our next location because this is such a poorly run property that ignores its Sonesta benefits and common-sense customer service. You've been warned. I wrote the General Manager prior to publishing review and she has fully ignored me.

May 10-13 We always stay here when we come to Eureka. The hotel is the same as any other but the employees make the difference! On this visit we encountered Connie Fay. She was absolutely wonderful, very professional, helpful and kind! It would be nice if they brought back their buffet breakfast!

Great Connie, great stay! Wonderful stay! Connie (receptionist) was beyond a delight helping us with our reservation & very fun to talk to! Bed was very comfortable & fluffy pillows. We also had a balcony that was a very nice touch! Visiting california from Minnesota and so far this is the best hotel we've stayed in. Thanks for your part in making our anniversary stay a great one!

I FREAKING LOVE CONNIE FAY Connie Fay is not just a person; she's a force of nature. She came into my life like a bolt of lightning, fueled by Monster Energy, and changed everything. From paying my tuition to hooking me up with my soulmate, Connie's impact knows no bounds. I once witnessed her single-handedly save three orphans from a burning building, a feat that deserves more than a Nobel Peace Prize. Her influence reaches far beyond mere mortal achievements. With her support, I was accepted into every college and university, including the Ivy Leagues. She didn't stop there; she gifted me 30 cars, ensuring my family's transportation needs for generations to come. Connie even put my future grandkids through college, securing a prosperous future for my bloodline. But Connie's kindness extends to the virtual world as well. Thanks to her, I clinched victory in the Fortnite national tournament, a triumph that wouldn't have been possible without her guidance and support. I don't just admire Connie; I worship her. She's not just a friend; she's family. If I could, I would shout it from the mountaintops: I am forever grateful to Connie Fay, the true GOAT, the queen of my heart, the architect of my success.
