Not worth it The Farmington Inn & Suites - Review: My adult daughter and I stayed at this facility for five nights from July 24 to July 29, 2024. We reserved two so-called “deluxe rooms” (the “only rooms available”) at a rate of $159.99 per night each room, with the tacked on additional “tax recovery & fees” of $61.95 per night per room. Total cost of the 2 rooms $2,219.40, which I pre-paid. The hotel has plenty of parking space and it is centrally located on the main artery of Farmington. The lobby is welcoming enough— and that’s about it for the positives. The hotel is old and the rooms run down. It consists of two floors with no elevator or ADA compliance. My room, with a view of the parking lot, had a penetrating musty smell that was transferred to my clothes. The cold water tap in the sink ran hot and never really cooled off. The canopy fabric above the 4-post bed had a tear in it. One of the lamps had a burned out bulb. And for the surprise PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE, on Sunday morning I woke up to a black thing flying out of my bed sheets. It turned out to be a WOMAN’S USED LACY BLACK THONG, which I unfortunately picked up with my two fingers but then placed in a hand towel. After washing my hands, I presented it to the front desk. But wait there is more…. Upon my return home, I discovered that additional junk fees, never disclosed at booking time, of $17.25 per night per room were charged to my account with the vague description of “facilities fees”. We never availed ourselves of the “free breakfast” nor do we know what other facilities are there. The pool advertised is not owned by the hotel but is in fact in another town. The hotel’s Reservation Support sent me an email asking for my review of the hotel. I responded with a detailed email explaining all my issues and demanding an explanation of these so-called “facilities fees” and “tax recovery & fees”, which constitute over 49.5% of the total cost of the rooms. I requested a response no later than today, August 3rd, after which I would write their requested review. To date—5 days after checking out and on the deadline given—I have no explanation. I will report this to a Consumer Advocate agency in Connecticut and will post this review on other sites. But for those future patrons of this hotel, take heed. If you choose anyway to stay at this facility, bring a bottle of Fabreze, check your bed sheets carefully and have them explain their pricing practices, which I find unethical and possibly illegal.

Not as advertised! The inn was advertised as boutique and spa retreat. It is actually rundown and overpriced. Website said pool, uniquely designed rooms with 4 poster beds and luxury toiletries. No pool on-site, must drive. Room was not unique, rundown, and had pet damage. Thin walls and noisy guests. Toiletries not boutique. Staff unfriendly and not helpful. Really this inn is just an ordinary chain-like hotel with boutique prices. Charged a facility fee 2x shown on website for really no special amenities.

Cute hotel Friendly staff. Well kept building. Our room had all the amenities such as coffee, mini fridge, hair dryer, soaps and iron. The bed was large and clean but it was not a comfortable mattress. We like a soft mattress and this one was definitely not feather topped like described. It felt like we were sleeping on a board. The breakfast was nice. Had all the usual eggs, bacon, toast , waffles etc.. located in a quaint area not far from the hustle and bustle.

No Elevator?!?! I was surprised and disappointed to discover upon checking in at the Farmington Inn that the Inn has no elevator. There are two stories with guest rooms, they all require steps, and there is no elevator. I presume there is something in the Americans with Disabilities Act that exempts them from making their lodging accessible to the disabled, but I think they should at the very least give prominent notice of this on their website. I have re-visited the website this morning, and find no such disclosure. The bathtub/shower (picture enclosed) had no safety rail and nothing on the tub floor to prevent slipping. A sign ("ICE") on one wing of our floor suggested an ice machine, but I could not find one. My wife found it, in the stairwell at the end of the hall, on the lower floor.

The rudest people you will ever want to meet We reserved a room for what was one of the most important weekends of my life - College graduation with an advanced degree from a local university. I was meeting friends/colleagues from afar who were also staying at the inn. We checked in on the Friday evening of our arrival and made it clear that we would be staying for 2 nights, as we were meeting people for a graduation ceremony that Sunday. The woman who checked us in had what I believe was a strong Eastern European accent, so I'm not sure she understood the ask. It was late, so I gave her my credit card, signed the papers, and went to our room. We slept in a bit the next day and were rudely awakened by someone pounding on the door, screaming at us to get out, or they're calling the police. To say that I was humiliated is an understatement, as the entire floor overheard this, including my colleagues/fellow grads. My husband asked her what was happening and she continued shouting that we only paid for one night and we have to leave now or she's calling the cops. He went downstairs to straighten the matter out. Apparently, the person the night before misunderstood and only booked us for one night. EVEN SO - to treat us like squatters and criminals in front of the entire hotel was unacceptable! My husband asked to speak to the manager or owner. A man showed up and introduced himself as "head of security". Then he called himself the "hotel manager". Only the next day did we find out he was the owner of the inn. We felt extremely intimidated and unwanted by both this bulldog of a woman and the owner, neither of whom apologized for the error on their end. However, we felt we had no other choice but to stay, as my graduation ceremony was the very next day and we had a full agenda. It's a shame because it really is a quaint little place, but VERY, VERY shady business practices. My recommendation? Find somewhere else to stay.
