Depressed in Galveston We stayed at the Comfort Suites pre-cruise on Friday, May 10, 2024. I chose this hotel initially because of the price, the location to the cruise terminal, and the fact that we have stayed at the Comfort Suites, Miami, pre-cruise in the past and we were very pleased with it. We enjoyed having drinks at the hotel bar with other pre-cruisers, and we liked that it served breakfast. There was only one person working the front desk at check-in, which surprised me because it was check-in time. I inquired about what time the bar would open, and was told that it would not be open. The clerk made a statement that she wasn't sure, but it was clear after walking over there, it wasn't stocked with anything, and I was pretty sure it wouldn't in the future. However, we were checked in no problem, and we headed to our room. Walking into our room, we were shocked to see all the wrinkled pillow slips on all the pillows, like someone had been laying on them for days. Because all four of them were wrinkled, I believed that is how they were put over the pillows. Like they had come out of the dryer but never pressed. It was weird. They smelled clean. We did not report it because I happened to speak to another guest in the elevator who said they would never stay here again, because they walked into their room as well and found the same thing! They asked to be moved to another room, and she said it was the same thing in that room! As far as the shuttle to the cruiseport - forget it. $25 per person one way. That would have been $100 for four of us. We ended up scheduling a Lyft who showed up promptly at the time we requested in the morning, and it was and Excel Lyft, and it was $40 for all of us. The breakfast...was lacking in appetizing. I went for a yogurt. I saw hard boiled eggs in the fridge, but realized someone had already peeled them, and quite poorly, with bits and pieces of the white missing. I would have rather peeled my own hardboiled egg, thank you. Coffee ran out, and there weren't even that many of us. We paid $278 for the night at this place. It was depressing.

Choose another hotel Stayed in this hotel last night, before our cruise. Big mistake! When booking through hotel, we were told shuttle was available. What they failed to tell us is that the shuttle sign up is first come, first serve. You have to arrive at early check-in to get the first couple of shuttles. We checked in at 5:30 pm, and had to get on the noon shuttle to the port. The driver was an hour late. Missed our cruise check in time by 2 hours. Hotel beds were hard as a board, and continental breakfast sub-par. We will not stay again.

Room and parking areas not secure. Precruise stay at this hotel. Room and location was fine but found the room door open upon arrival. We thought the host opened it for us. In the morning we went to breakfast and upon our return we found police activity in the parking lot and were shocked when we again found the door to our room open. Thankfully our luggage was still there. We reported the issue to hotel staff who showed little concern. We received the same response from corporate upon our return home. We will not use this hotel in the future.

Not staying here again The hotel is in disrepair, and in need for major repair and cleaning! The hotel rooms were not very clean. They still had the Covid pieces of plexiglass when you checked in with terribly tacky pieces of white paper all over yelling at you not to do this, not to do that. The door on the far end of the hotel was broken with another sheet of paper letting you know, not that big of a deal except for the fact the parking lot was so full you had to park way back by the garbage cans and walk around the whole hotel to get in. They offer a shuttle to the port, for 25 per person, it was way cheaper to take an Uber. The continental was the worst ive had in a long time. I stay at a lot of hotels and this was one I won’t ever go back to.
