Quick stay in the mountains We'd been on a 5000 mile road trip (originally scheduled for last year) and have always wanted to see the Gatlinburg area in the Smokies. We stayed at Mountain Loft for three nights on timeshare exchange and stayed in a nicely appointed one BR unit, king bed and sleeper couch, full small kitchen, two separate sinks for bathroom, tub and shower stall, stacked w/d, balcony facing the mountains. The resort is located away from town (only a few miles) so it was quiet which is what we wanted after spending so much time on the road past two weeks. There is a mini golf course with beautiful mountain backdrop, nice deck area with lounge chairs and a fire pit. We were warned about the two mama bears and 5 cubs in the area but we never saw them. We were not offered any type of timeshare tour, which is fine since we already own elsewhere. Businesses are just starting to get back into "fullswing" since Covid so activities were still slow and check in was slow since not everyone has returned to work since being on unemployment. There is so much to do in the GB and Pigeon Forge area, esp. for families. My husband and I enjoyed a day at Dollywood and another time at the Island in Pigeon Forge (many sitting areas to enjoy the water fountain show to music and just relax), walking around the shops, had good lunch at Paula Deen's place. This is one resort I wouldn't mind returning to if in the area again.

Second time here, might not come again. I want to start out by giving some pointers for those who might be finding this review AFTER you've booked with Mountain Loft: -Get the top room if you can. Do all you can to NOT have anyone above you. -Bring some headphones or ear plugs for night time -bring a fan or something to get the air moving. No fans in the rooms, and the AC isn't the best -Ensure your vehicle is in tip top shape, for you WILL be driving some steep roads lol Now, onto the actual review... I'm fairly disappointed in having to write this review. I like to think that I am quite liberal with my stars, opinions, and reviews, but sometimes a "yucky" one must be written. I just want to mention that we stayed here two years ago and had a better experience. I don't know what happened. Maybe it just is what it is. Where should I start? Let's start with the worst parts first, shall we? Comfort: I give two stars. The mattress was one of the most uncomfortable things I've laid on, and I've slept in some quite uncomfortable places. The pillows are like the rotten cherry on top, sadly. When you've been out hiking, swimming in the river, paddling down the rapids, or walking the downtown streets, you want to know that you'll be coming home to a comfortable night sleep. Sadly, it didn't happen. Amenities: I give four stars (mostly bc I didn't experience all of them) The inside/outside pool is very cool. The transition between inside and outside is always a favorite with the little ones. And the hot tubs at all locations are so relaxing! BUT, the pools need work. The good thing is that they're beginning to work on them, so perhaps future visitors will enjoy a pool that isn't falling apart. Rooms: I give 3 stars for the rooms, themselves. The walls and ceiling are so thin I'm surprised people didn't fall into our room. I know Mountain Loft can't control the people that stay with them, but I would've put my next paycheck on the opinion that there was a family of elephants above us. So loud, bumpy, distracting, etc. Perhaps the resort can implement some evening quiet time curfew? Saaayyyyy 9 pm? If there are already rules in place, I don't know where they can be found. Lastly, the employees: I give the employees a five. They were great! Super nice, helpful, smiley, and patient. Great job! All in all, I don't think we will be staying here another time. Gonna look for a new location. *shrug*

Not what I expected This was a timeshare exchange for us and was disappointed compared to other resorts we have stayed at over the years. The resort itself is located in a good area about 2 miles from downtown Gaitlinburg and there is a trolley stop at the entrance to the resort to take you downtown. They have a very nice 18 hole mini golf course which looked fairly new along with an observation deck with a beautiful view. Our room itself which we booked a 2 bedroom was a little run down and outdated. The bathroom looked new though. The unit was actually 2 separate rooms with no connecting door. Our exchange said one king bed and two single beds, but we got 2 separate rooms next to each other with one king bed and one queen bed. This did not go over well with our two older children so one ended up sleeping on a sofa bed all week. All the units in our building were the same. You enter one door to a foyer and then have two separate doors for each room. I guess families with young children end up splitting up. Not sure why they don’t at least have a lock out door. The walls are pretty thin and we heard the family below us every morning. The kitchen was not well stocked. They gave us two spoons, everything else was for 4. We also only had three towels and the bag for the sleeper sofa didn’t have a sheet. While we loved the area and there was plenty to do, I would not stay at this resort again.

We were so disappointed... This was a time-share exchange for us... we had never stayed at the Mountain Loft Resort in Gatlinburg, but thought it might be a nice summer get-away. Wrong. We both cleaned for an hour, after arriving at the townhouse we were assigned to stay in during the week of June 18-25. It was the dirtiest place we had ever booked to stay. But not only was it dirty, there were things that were broken in the unit: the dishwasher had broken parts, the refrigerator had broken shelf guards, the vent for the stove was damaged and hanging down over the stove, the curtains going out on the deck were coming down on each end... the shower was so nasty and worn out that I dreading taking a shower each day!! Dust was so thick everywhere. The furniture was worn and filthy (it had a black sheen). Things had not been cleaned in so long, the dirt, dust, filth had piled up. The WI-fi was worthless, unless you paid extra. The deck had trees (some with poison ivy) moving into your space. While we were there, they updated their t.v., so we had to have someone come to our unit to do this. We left one day early. We will never go back. I do not recommend this resort.

Don't take the tour The place is nice and comfortable but once again we have been lied to. My daughter and son in law took the 3 hr tour so that we could get tickets to a ankeesta for cheaper. Well we get to ankeesta and the vouchers the resort gave us was for the zipline and not for the entry like they told us. I called an complained so they said they would refund my money we paid for the tickets and send my daughter a $100.00 visa card. Well here it is 3 months later, no refund, no card and now they won't reply to emails or phone calls. So I say enjoy the condos but don't take the tour you will be wasting your time.
