Pleasantly surprised. After a long day of travel, we arrived at the Quality inn in Gilroy. The first person we met at check in was the management staff and he made sure we had the room we requested. The room was very comfortable and it seemed newly renovated. It was spotlessly clean. It also had a great roomy shower. The location was perfect for our needs and our 6 night stay could not have been more comfortable..

No shower “too bad” Found through trip advisor but booking didn’t complete because of connection issue. Paid directly $140 with dog. Didn’t realize until next morning that the shower head was completely torn out of the wall. Management claimed that no empty room was available for my wife & I to shower. After nearly an hour I was given access to the empty room next door. I requested an adjustment on cost. They later left me a voicemail that they would return $14.31

WARNING.... WARNING: Great place if you want to sleep 5 feet away from homeless encampments and you love the smell of urine and rot. I was able to get a refund due to my room smelling like something was decomposing inside. The staff refused a refund until they actually opened the door themselves and were overwhelmed by the smell. The managers idea of fixing the room was spraying fabreeze but he clearly knew there was no fixing once he smelled for himself. You can smell the rot 10 feet before you even get to the room. I've never smelt anything so horrible. I'm still mystified as to what could have caused that kind of smell. Also notable is the fact that Homeless encampments surround the hotel...directly behind the wall to the rooms.

Some pros, some cons Overall I was happy with the room itself and amenities. Bed was comfortable and bedding was clean. The folks at the front desk were all nice and helpful. The (pandemic-era) pre-bagged takeaway breakfast was terrible if you don’t like unhealthy prepared microwaveable meals or bacon/meat. How about a yogurt, egg or cereal? At least there were apples. The walls are very thin and so I could hear everything and lots of stomping above me. As a single traveler, I didn’t feel very safe staying here, in part because of the homeless living directly behind the building.

So nice, we stayed Twice! Very, very Clean and Very, very Quiet! Its a 2 story hotel, there are complaints about no elevator, umm..if 10 steps are a problem, perhaps more exercise is needed? The employees are efficient & friendly. Smoking rooms available & I agree with another review that said they absolutely have THE cleanest smoking rooms. No lingering odors whatsoever. Guests are respectful and we saw no homeless people nor encampments near the buildings. If we had, we would've given them some food. I'm sure they'd be grateful and kindness goes a long way. Speaking of food, the FREE breakfast here is A. FREE B. Hot & Cold choices C. Did I mention FREE? Who complains about free food? This is a great place to stay, with extremely comfortable bedding & pillows, flatscreen tv, microwave, frig/ freezer, coffee maker, hairdryer, strong water pressure in the shower, and seriously spotlessly clean rooms. ( sorry for the rant, the bad reviews rubbed me the wrong way!)
