Spa day with family This was my first time at this fabulous hotel. My sister and I went for a spa afternoon with afternoon tea and it was first class service all the way. The staff was very accommodating, polite and friendly. The afternoon tea was delicious. We will definitely be back and I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Wonderful treatment, one star less for terrible Afternoon tea and not being shown all areas of the spa. Spa morning which cost £105 each including a 50 minute treatment, use of spa and afternoon tea. It was lovely and quiet so enjoyed the facilities more or less to ourselves. Friendly receptionist at the spa. Felt relaxed and enjoyed a hot stone deep tissue massage which was amazing. However, not so good was that no one explained there are 2 outdoor hot tubs. We saw them as we were walking out as they are not at the main part of the spa. We were so disappointed we didn't realise they were there or got shown them on arrival or explained where everything is. Then through to the restaurant for afternoon tea. Lady serving was pleasant and friendly. Coffee was good but sandwiches were slightly stale, tasteless and the scones very dry. Could tell that the offerings were poor quality. This was "included" but slightly disappointing and not much effort put into it. Better off eating elsewhere. All in all the day was reasonable but let down by not being shown all areas of the spa and by the afternoon tea. The steam room and the 50 minute hot stone massage made it for us I think.

Birthday Night Stay Room was great only problem was the blind needs replacing as its broken on the bottom and the shower screen could do with being a bit wider as it doesn't stop the water from going on the floor. We used tbe spa facilities which were great and the food was amazing. Would stay here again

Very disappointing A really difficult review to write as some positive and some negatives. Having been several times before, I thought I knew what to expect, but I was definitely wrong. The spa reception, previously showing examples of spa products has now become a mini bar, with beer pumps, spirit bottles and coffee machine- not a great image for a relaxing spa. No welcoming drinks, no one showing around members of the party who hadn’t previously visited, or explaining the plan for our visit and treatments. Just an apology for a very friendly receptionist explaining she was the only member of staff on duty! We found our way round the new ( to us) lay out, with other visitors explaining the use of the new hot tubs. Our massages followed, and as usual, could not be faulted - Dora is amazing and gives the best massage ever. However the new cheaper products were definitely noticed Swim was spoilt by a hosepipe strewn into the pool squirting freezing cold water and 2 fully clothed workers standing in the hot tub area trying to fix some aspect , but rendering it useless to our party. Through to the restaurant for lunch and again no one available. After seeking out a member of staff our drink orders were taken , and eventually food orders. ( not to blame the young man who attended to us as once again the only person working in the restaurant area seating clients, taking orders, running the bar, serving the carvery for a group booking, serving meals and taking payments!). Our food arrived after nearly an hour, cheese toasties burnt while cheese uncooked inside, fish finger sandwich cold , chips also cold. The cake selection we had pre booked had nearly run out with no choice except Victoria sandwich which was also very dry. We complained many times and sent the food back to the kitchen. Although the whole event was so disappointing, Harry, the only member of staff visible throughout the whole episode dealt with our issues professionally and fairly. He is a credit to your business. I have already booked to return in February as sadly would not be visiting again otherwise .A perfec example of cutbacks going too far.
