Could be better Booked a Groupon stay for my birthday, overall, it was average. A few things to note: If you book a Groupon, beware the wording "Pool & Poolside Thermals" use DOES NOT MEAN ACCESS TO STEAM ROOM ETC. They mean "Pool and Poolside Sauna". This is very misleading in my opinion. It seems like a very complex system. Price on display in the spa said £50, but upon looking at the website, hotel gests in September are meant to get a 50% discount- I am pretty sure the spa staff did not know this. Different coloured bands to indicate which guest type you are - I feel sorry for the staff there. It would be better, if, when checking in you were offered the option to upgrade to full spa access for a reduced price, then you knew what you had included. The description on Groupon should definitely be changed, as it feels like the hotel is trying to trick you. The Spa, in fairness is excellent and the lady on duty (she was on her own and run off her feet!) was very helpful. very surprised that you could take drinks in (plastic glasses, obviously!) The gym is rubbish. Very small, very old or cheap equipment. Treadmills are dangerous, the belt is so worn it is slippy. I couldn't use it, I would say that is an accident waiting to happen. Rooms are OK, good size but not very clean. I bent down to pick something up when drying my hair and under the desk was thick with dust - this made us look all around the edges, the hoover has not seen the edge of that carpet for some time! No information in the room, I heard the receptionist tell the man in front of us at check-in that you could get room service, but no menu in the room and no info about check-out etc. Breakfast was very nice, lots of it and quality food. Friendly staff throughout, but they seem to be short-staffed. Not sure if it is under new management, as it looks like they are spending some money on the public areas at the moment. Need some attention to detail re cleaning and some more thought on the Spa access situation!!

Bit outdated. This hotel is a bit dated. Our room, accessible with an old school wooden tag and key, was very 1970s, tiny wooden wardrobe, shower over bath, cracked window and small TV, but worst of all the room was unbelievably hot, apparently above the spa. Staff were the saving grace as they were lovely, provided us with a huge fan, and we're endlessly helpful. Bar nice, food average, grounds nice. There are renovated rooms which might be nicer. The spa announced that hotel residents would be charged for usage from 1st September, £20 each for a swim! Ridiculous. All in all, there are better and nicer hotels, but the staff are what makes this one just bearable. We wouldn't hurry back.

Overpriced and definately not luxury avoid this place Wanted to treat my wife to a luxury nights stay in West Yorkshire and trusted my staff to find something nice but they didn’t check the reviews first. After paying a premium for a suite and spa treatment for my wife we arrived 15 minutes before check in 6 people in the que waiting to sign in and only only girl on the desk busy on the phone. After 10 minute wait then to be told the room still wasn’t ready . So we decided no problem were go into the bar and order a quick coffee. Served by the restaurant manager we then had to wait 20 minutes for a coffee to arrive…not the best start. The only highlight and in fact moment of brilliance was a receptionist with long black hair and glasses found us apologised for the wait and had prepared all our firms and we just signed a bit of paper and added our car reg details. She was friendly professional and a credit to the place. Sadly it was the highlight of the weekend. Our coffees then arrived and we could only assume that the delay was due to the restaurant manager was busy preparing our room . So we then decided to have a spot of lunch my wife had gammon which was fine and I had a chicken sandwich but in West Yorkshire they decide to put tomato sauce on it rather than mayo omg heathens lol Then we took our keys to see our suite. As we walked towards room 243 we noticed a tear in the corridor wallpaper which must have been walked past a hundred times and remained damaged. As we entered the room first impressions were good. Simple modern design and a bottle of bubbly waiting on the table….. nice touch just a real shame the delighted short lived as they didn’t provide any fluted glasses to drink it and we had to resort to using the bathroom tumblers Undeterred we changed into our dressing gowns supplied to the spa again the second highlight was a member of staff who was a cleaner opened the door for us and gave us a genuine smile and welcomed us to the spa top marks to this you g lady manners cost nothing but impressions were great she also bit the restaurant manager to shame . Alas that was the last good thing. The spa reception was unattended and we could have just walked in and I’m sure nobody would have noticed but we waited for a very harassed spa person to come around the counter pushing a large bin of sweaty wet dressing gowns she’s obviously rounded up from abandoned chairs in the spa she took my extra £25 payment as only my wife was given access to the spa because we had ordered her massage. And when it was bought no one thought to consider we’d need two entry’s . Moving into the spa it was small no virgin active small pool sauna and steam room. The foot spa was slow to fill and only catered for 2 people. But the outdoor hit spa was a reddening feature but more than 4 people would be a problem My wife’s massage was fine and we left after a few hours .as we left we overheard one of the staff complaining that they only get paid minimum wage … so dinner next which was a missed affair the starters of tomato soup and satay chicken were lovely and the sea bass and seperate haddock n chips was great chips maybe too salty but I will let that pass there were about 20 people eating that evening with 2 waiters and the restaurant manager . We were going to order dessert but after 30 minutes waiting for service we gave up waiting and left we noticed nobody else in the whole restaurant had a dessert do if restaurantvtakings are fine then that’s why the promised desert would help if you actually took orders in a timely fashion So back to our room when my wife discovered that the toilet had a strong smell of poo and the sofa in the suite had a suspicious stain on it which looked like previous tenants had ejaculsted and left it to dry…. No water in the room we did pay extra for luxury. Nice bed snd good sleep tv didn’t have any news channels or bbc just ranfom free tv Next morning breakfast was again disappointing for luxury spa not shown to Sny table all self serve. Food not great quality and tables very slow to be cleared and cleaned. Didn’t go back for seconds and we decided to leave early outside the large premises in the car park any nice photo opportunity’s of the hotel spoked by a skip with rubbish overflowing. Would it not of been better to park the skip around the side . So ten out of ten to the two girls buy if your the owner or manager of this premises you need to overhaul the rest of the team pay better wages and fins better job . Do bad was our experience that we look d up trip advisor to leave this terrible review the first time ever. Not worth the premium price next time I will go to premier in and save a fortune …

Worst Sunday Lunch I’ve ever had in my life. Horrendously bad, awful. Bland, tasteful just very bad Had Sunday Lunch for two people with Groupon. The restaurant was empty just another couple and some workmen. When we entered and were shown to our table I commented how quiet it was and the waitress mumbled something about sometimes it does get busier than this I have to say this was worst Sunday Lunch I have ever tasted in my life and I can’t believe they could actually charge for it. It was absolutely awful. Garlic mushroom starter was like mushroom soup, no garlic and no spoon, toasted baguette bread didn’t taste of any garlic either. The ‘soup’ was very oily. The dinner the Potatoes were hard, like par-boiled, and no evidence of any roasting. The parsnips boiled and hard, carrot same. All very tasteless and bland. Roast Beef fatty, tasteless and I couldn’t eat most of it. Green beans ok boiled. Yorkshire Pudding ok, gravy ok. But the dinner was very bland and horrendously bad. The waitress never asked us on leaving to paying for start if everything had been ok. Nor did she ask when she took our plates. I suppose because the poor girl knew how bad it was and probably has so many complaints if they do get any customers.
