Fair hotel This was our second Holiday Inn on our trip and I must say that Holiday Inn has improved its quality. The rooms were clean. My only complaints were that the pool is pretty small, more like a square. Also, the coffee kept going empty and when I finally had some it was not hot.

Nice stay We spent one night here on our 13 day trip. Check in was very slow, seems the guest checking in before us had a problem and it took both people behind the desk about 10 minutes to correct. Room was nice and clean. Plenty of towels and pillows that were regular size, not the throw pillow size that we encountered at other hotels on our trip. Breakfast was your typical fare. Scrambled eggs, a sausage of some type. Great location but very pricey for a Holiday Inn Express.

Rude manager threatened me with charges before I even checked in. The manager was quite rude and hostile upon hearing me request an early check-in to lay out items for my daughter's birthday sleepover. I booked a stay in a suite for one night that was almost $400. My reservation stated that 2 adults and 4 children would be occupying the suite for one night. I was there around 2:10PM and check-in was at 3. I greeted the lady at the front desk who took my name, looked up my reservation, and informed me that I could not check-in early. I was not upset that I couldn't check-in yet, some hotels allow it, and some don't. I went out to wait in my car and a few moments later the manager (he gave no name) knocked on my car window and scared me, then threatened me with charges if my child or her friends cause damage. I stated that it was just a couple 12-year-olds having a sleepover and this threat was unwarranted. We did not intend to throw a big party, but I feel he discriminated against me based on my appearance as I have tattoos and piercings. After some back and forth he simmered down and left my car side and returned into the building. This was jarring and had me quite rattled. If I wasn't on a tight schedule I would have cancelled and stayed somewhere else. It is really unprofessional to accuse someone of intending to cause damage especially on such an expensive reservation. The fact that he came to my car was also a very weird experience. He could have talked to me while I was at the front desk or waited for me to come back and check-in to politely address any concerns, but he instead chose to follow me to my car and speak to me in a hostile manner. Everything else about the stay was fantastic but this definitely did major damage to my experience.

Housekeeping, maintenance and breakfast need significant improvement I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Grand Junction for the first time in about 16 months. While improved over past stays, there were still issues. Including some of the same issues as before. Namely housekeeping and breakfast, which are arguably the most important parts of a stay. Housekeeping continues to be problematic. Long pieces of hair were visible in the walk-in shower and on the bathroom floor. Additionally, there were a lot of hairs on the sofa couch plus some stains. The rest of the room was clean. In addition to the cleanliness issues, there were some signs of maintenance issues. The wallpaper was cracked in a couple of places. The walk-in shower also had visible mold or mildew along the sliding door. In terms of housekeeping, the housekeepers seem to at least replace towels and empty trash every day. We received this for 2 days. Another day we received what appeared to be a full service that included new linen on the bed, etc. But some things were not replaced or were done very inconsistently. In a king suite some days we had 4 towels and other days we had 2 towels. Coffee was not replenished any of the days that we stayed. Surfaces were also not wiped down, even on the day when supposedly a full service was provided. Also in the bathroom ... hot water is an issue. The faucet at the sink never got hotter than lukewarm. In the shower, it took about 7 minutes of running the water for the temperature to get above lukewarm. Breakfast is another weak area. Unlike other Holiday Inn Express properties in Colorado and Wyoming, breakfast doesn't start until 6:30 am. Most other properties start their breakfast at 6 am. The breakfast offering appears to be the absolute minimum required by Holiday Inn Express. With the exception of sausage (turkey and pork sausages were rotated each day), the hot items like eggs never changed over 4 days. The same scrambled eggs every day. No egg white omelet or egg and cheese omelet. I saw bananas but I don't think I saw apples. You can get a better breakfast at the Starbucks across the parking lot. It opens at 6 am. Additionally, IHG elite status recognition was nonexistent. At check-in, I was not offered any kind of amenity or even a bottle of water. With that said, here are some things about the hotel: 1) Location. Multiple stores nearby as well as access to highways. 2) The gym is excellent. 3) Rooms are recently renovated (within the last 4 years) and feature one of the newer Holiday Inn Express designs. 4) Copies of the local newspaper plus tourist magazine are provided in the lobby. 5) There is plenty of parking. All things considered, Grand Junction doesn't have many good hotels. The Holiday Inn Express is a better option than the Holiday Inn, but it still falls short of the expected standard. Especially for anyone staying more than 1 night. Housekeeping, maintenance, and the breakfast need significant improvement.

Good and comfortable stay We stayed 2 days in the 1 bedroom suite (2 queen beds in the main room, separate bedroom with a king bed), with 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. Room was very comfortable and clean, beds were very comfortable as well. Breakfast was adequate, enough hot and cold options including a pancake machine. As far as Holiday Inn Express hotels go, this was a good one. Location was great as well, in walking distance of some restaurants and 10 minutes drive from Colorado National Monument. We would stay here again.
