Very clean, comfortable suites Spouse & I stayed 4 nights. All staff members were friendly, helpful and courteous. We booked too late to get a first-floor room. Comfort Suites staff put us on the east side of the second floor (of the three-floor building.) Our room was very close to the elevator, but far enough away that we weren't disturbed by associated noise. It was easily the largest room we've ever booked and easily accommodated the two queen-sized beds & sleeper sofa. The AC wall unit at the window worked fine. All the customary complimentary amenities were easily accessed. The hair dryer worked fine once it was moved to a live electrical outlet nearby. The tiny working deck outside the window contained a couple of micro-wave antennae. (We failed to bring protective our aluminum-foil hats.) The window could be slid open from inside for fresh air and had a stick to ensure it wasn't opened from the outside. Downsides: The four clothes hangers in the closet were traditional "hooked" devices. (Tip: bring along extra.) When the TV was off we could hear muffled footsteps above us. Our view was mainly the south end of an enormous Wal-Mart parking lot. The curtains did a fairly adequate job of blocking the lot's daylight-level illumination at night, as well as from the sunrise. The only ice-dispensing machine is on the first floor toward the end of the hall. Comfort Suites' policy on multiple-night stays is to only clean on the third day - unless requested otherwise. We didn't request anything special, but our room was cleaned & replenished every day. The only negative was housekeeping removed some stinky cheese we'd left out after our first night. Free breakfast was decent, with a pretty good selection of hot and cold items. Pool was popular, yet clean.

Awful Made reservations for 4 nights. Awful stay….. Bathtub/ shower plumbing backed up. We stood in ankle deep water the entire time we took a shower. Sink was backed up as well. Hair dryer broken, but front desk person argued that it wasn’t and would not make accommodations to ensure I could get my hair dry before I had to leave for the day. Requested towels, but ended up having to bring my dirty towels down to front desk to get fresh ones. Breakfast was the same thing all 4 days we had reserved to stay. The pull out bed had a mattress pad full of crumbs and stains on it. I would never recommend this place to anyone and am ashamed that I had other family members stay there to experience much of the same.

Tried to overcharge on pre-booked rooms! Having reserved two rooms online via the Choice reservation system we arrived about 1 hour after start of check-in time. A man (Ivan) walked in as in a rush, went to a booking station, seemed to bring up the computer, and called me to be served. I gave him my name and the fact that I had reservations for two rooms. Then we had to wait for them to make certain the second room was ready. In the process of booking me in Ivan wanted to make a copy of my driver's license and for security reasons I refused offering to show ID NOT to be photocopied. He spoke with the manager and began processing my check-in initially doing only one room. After getting the second room added I noted what appeared to be a high price. I brought my confirmation from Choice Hotels up on my phone and saw that Ivan was charging about $21.00 per room more than what I had confirmation for. At this point the manager, Carol K, came over and told him how to correctly charge our rooms. After getting a printed correction for my records (and protection) my wife and our guest went to the rooms while I parked the vehicle. Upon entering our room, Carol K. was present in the room removing a tray of water from the refrigerator, apparently from having defrosted. She was apologetic and made sure the water issue was resolved and cleaned up. After this we had a pleasant stay with a comfortable night's sleep. Our complimentary breakfast was adequate and the checking out process cordially friendly.

Very good hotel Very good Hotel. I spent 4 days with my wife and son. Rooms are clean. Good breakfast. The lady in charge of the breakfast room often checks that everything is available and you can find what you want. Quiet place and with restaurants nearby. Better to have a car. When I will be back in Grand Rapids I will choose this hotel.

Wife got very itchy - had to leave Booked a 2 night stay to attend family wedding. Room was clean and nice, didn't think there would be a problem. But my wife had an allergic reaction to the bed linen and got very itchy. Closer examination of the sheets showed evidence of past bed bugs (small dark dots, some slightly larger stains) but no sign of live bugs. We suspect harsh detergents were the problem and didn't think a different room would be any different, so checked out after one night. Made the mistake of booking a non-refundable rate, and management refused refund of the un-used second night.
