Great "home base" in the capitol city! As a family of five (including two kids and a senior), we stayed here a few nights at the beginning of our Guatemala trip, and once more at the end (before flying home). The Wyndham Garden is comfortable and accommodating; the staff is very friendly; and the food in the restaurant is good. There's a bank w/ATM right outside the lobby (big plus!), and the hotel right in the heart of the tourist area – relatively safe, with good shopping and food options nearby. Highly recommended; we will likely stay here again if we return!

Convenient Location, Good Customer Service The rooms were spacious and the location convenient. The fitness room is large enough for a few people exercising at the same time without feeling cramped. The staff was congenial and helpful. Restaurants are close by on foot or via taxi. I was travelling with a colleague. The immigration line in the airport was long, while waiting, the person behind us struck up a conversation. It turned out they were involved in managing the hotel and had a vehicle coming to take them from the airport to the hotel - the person generously provided us with a ride to the hotel. This type of kindness was greatly appreciated - a super example of kindness and customer service coming together.

This Hotel will NOT leave a light on for you! I would totally agree with their 8/10 rating but …. The ladies at the front desk were rude to the next level! I arrived early and someone checked me into the system. The room (understandably) would not be available, as I arrived at 10:00 am. I dropped off my luggage and headed out. I returned and asked to collected my bags. The woman helping me was handed a keycard. My sixth floor room, two doors from the gym, seemed an odd choice. I went to the room, entered and closed the door. There was no security latch. It was missing. I left my luggage and went downstairs. I was made to wait almost thirty minutes for maintenance. I was never offered another room. That seemed odd, as the hotel was not full. Finally, I was sent back upstairs. There were three men from maintenance at the door. I let them in and they fixed the door. When they were done, I left the room to check out the small gym. Upon returning to my door, I noticed that the door didn’t fit the frame. There was a gap of about an inch. None of the other doors near me had this problem. Clearly, the door was damaged (by someone trying to break inside, I wondered) and the front desk staff decided to assign it to me. I went back to the front desk and showed them photos of the door. After some time, discussing the situation, my room was changed. The woman who checked me in, earlier that day, never looked me in the eyes. I went back to the old room, gathered my luggage, and went to the new one. The keycard didn’t work. I used the phone by the elevator to notify the front desk. I then sat on the floor, in front of the room, waiting for the new keycard. Two days before checking out, I went to the desk to request their airport shuttle. Someone called me later that night to confirm that my pick up was the following morning. I told the person “at the front desk” that my checkout was not tomorrow. It was the day after tomorrow. Then, at 4:20 AM, the phone in the room rang. It was the front desk telling me that the driver was downstairs. I explained (again) that my flight (and shuttle reservation) was for the following day. The ladies at the front desk clearly wanted me to know that I was NOT welcomed at their hotel. Note to self!

Room not ready _ Check in was supposed to be at 3 o’clock. The staff was very polite. However, the room was not ready. Not overly friendly and was not informed what was happening. There were other guests also waiting more than a hour for their room. So far we have waited 1:15 minutes. When you are tired for traveling it can be stressful.

In The Heart of The City A contemporary hotel in a wealthier part of the city near the airport. Our room situated, on the fifth floor, was absolutely huge with enough space for a lounge area with sofa. A three piece shower room with a walk-in shower was very nicely finished. A few areas of improvement for me - certainly not enough hanging space in the bathroom for towels; In addition, the lighting in the bathroom made it hard to shave without a shaving mirror. Finally no fridge & no ice. The hotel is in easy reach of at least two swanky shopping/ dining areas that are absolutely first class.
