Convenient, pet friendly, but not too nice The location is convenient and pet friendly, both positive and the reason the hotel was selected. The rooms and buildings are very worn and in need of attention. The ceiling had several dark spots, hopefully not mold. Housekeeping attended to the room one of the two nights. The room was musty and had a urine smell. While in the room we had to keep the windows open.

Mould everywhere - a total health hazard with false customer care promises After an incredible trip in New York and Connecticut, we spent our last evening in America at the Red Roof Inn Guilford Connecticut. The overall experience was terrible. There were hairs in our beds, reception never answered the phone despite calling several times, but worst of all was the bathroom which was literally covered in mould and smelt horrific. Putting on the extractor fan was not an option because it was so excessively loud that we couldn't hear each other speak over the noise. Despite a notice in their information book saying:"Not wowed by your stay? We'll make it right" I contacted customer service with my complaint - to which they replied - Thanks we'll look in to it - and we hope to see you again. If you don't plan on doing anything with a clients feedback, why even bother with the notice. Needless to say, we got hardly any sleep and paid the equivalent of R5000 (ZAR) for an awful nights stay before a very long trip back to South Africa. What a terrible experience to end off our otherwise fantastic holiday.

Avoid like crazy As others have written - we didn’t expect a deluxe room but this place was pretty bad. We checked in late evening and there were dirty towels and a mop on the upstairs landing as if housekeeping never finished. The room we got had that smell to it that others have mentioned. The room was very spare with mismatched chairs and a dirty couch. The kitchen had very little value with nothing - and I mean nothing to make use of ( yes I read how you have to ask but come on) Not a spoon or cup or paper towel to be seen. The bathroom was newer and clean. Worst thing was dirty bed linens - both yellow and red stains - gross and really unsanitary. Loud fighting in nearby room (not hotel’s fault.) Finally - door latch for security was not functional and falling out. Sorry I would NEVER go back or recommend this place. No way.

Red Roof Inn MINUS My family and I booked this place last minute as our usual go-to (and most others in the area) was booked. While not expecting much, we thought, how bad could it be…the answer is, that bad. This place was truly gross. The “100% smoke free” room wreaked of stale smoke and filth. The room was large and had an efficiency which was in disrepair, covered in grime, and stripped of anything useful. All mismatched furniture was ripped, stained, and well beyond its shelf life. Bed linens were stained. Room was just plain run down, dingy and dirty, floors, bathroom, furniture, walls even. There was no housekeeping to speak of during our weekend stay. Other patrons there seemed to be long term renters, sitting in their cars chain-smoking the day away, shirts optional. Walls and ceilings were paper thin also. On the plus side, location was okay to towns and beaches. The front desk person was friendly enough when actually at the desk (I called from my cell phone in the lobby to check in and ask for more towels). Normally I take other reviews with a grain of salt because you’re never going to please everyone. Do yourself a favor and pass right over this place unless you’re really desperate. And even then, I’d consider staying in my car for the night. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Run ! Also don't know the meaning of handicap accessible! Booked an ADA compliant room on the website since my husband is in a wheelchair. Called hotel directly and was assured room was wheelchair accessible and ada compliant with grab bars in bathroom. The only thing handicap compliant about this room was the parking space outside the door ..that was occupied by a car without a handicap plate or placard! The entrance to the room had a 4" threshold that I struggled to lift the wheelchair with my 160 lb husband over and the door was barely wide enough! That was only the first issue! The room smelled like an old ashtray and mold. The walls were filthy and the 2 couches were so old and dirty looking I wouldn't even put our bags on them! The tub was stained and dirty. The bathroom was in the corner and not the least bit accessible with a wheelchair and no grab bars for safety I called to ask if there was a mistake and we weren't given the right room and I was told no, that's the room they use because it has the handicap parking space...what?? My comments about the room being dirty were ignored. If we had somewhere else to go we would have ! We left at 7 in the morning and I didn't even shower there because the tub was so gross. I'm calling the corporate office in the morning. We managed to work around the wheelchair issues but what about some other traveler who can't..aside from the filth issue..also guests are required to wear a mask in the office but both times I was in there the staff was unmasked..but I was told to wear one!
