Post stay communication is non existent!!! Our stay was quite lovely. The room was clean and breakfast had loads of options; even GF bread! Since our check out (July 18) I have been trying to rectify an extra charge on my credit card and have had no luck. I’ve called 3 times and have been put on hold for a total of 45 minutes. I think I spoken to every staff member at the front desk with promises of being called back and nothing. My husband and I travel quite a bit and this was our first experience at this hotel. We had hoped this would be our ‘Halifax hotel’, the post check out communication is leaving a bad first impression.

Standard Hampton Inn Very standard experience at a Hampton Inn. Breakfast features a wide variety of foods (and the line ups for the waffle maker). A note in the room said housekeeping service is only every 3rd day, so with a 2 night stay we didn't expect service but received it. The room was very clean and comfortable. Standard small pool and gym in the lower level, which is shared with the Homewood Suites next door. The pool can get busy but still nice to have when traveling with kids! There is ample dining space around the breakfast area, so even when it's busy you should be able to find a table. We had take out dinner one night and used the dining space to eat, too, which was handy since the rooms aren't huge. (We did spot a mouse running under the tables while eating that night...alerted the desk who said they've been struggling with nearby construction but would call the pest control company again. Everything we could see was spotless so I don't think the problem was one of cleanliness.) The hotel could use one more elevator--even just a service elevator for staff--as the line gets long in the late afternoon. Our elevator stopped on nearly every floor where there were housekeeping staff with laundry carts waiting for a ride. Location--close to the Citadel. Walk to the waterfront isn't bad, but keep in mind that Halifax is built on a hill and those few blocks are STEEP. There are surprisingly few restaurants in the area immediately around the hotel, so plan accordingly for dinner.

Ok and basic but clean and friendly The staff at the hotel are lovely and friendly and the place is spotless. The mattress was so comfy. While the main aspects of the stay were good there are some other more minor things that weren't so good. There is not a restaurant on site it looks like the hot food may be cooked off site. The hot food consists of some kind of potato dish, ham dish and egg dish. Some days it was hash browns others cubed potatoes that kind of idea. There were pastries fresh fruit, toast making facilities which were all good but you had to use paper plates and wooden cutlery. Not ideal. The leather/pvc on my headboard was peeling and looked awful. While it says it has a pool it is more like a splash pool don't expect to be able to do lengths in it.

Wonderful hotel staff and great location The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is well situated, close to major attractions in Halifax. The front desk manager, Dion, was very helpful and friendly. Dion gave us a rundown of the history of the city and provided maps listing local events. I would definitely stay at this hotel the next time I am in Halifax.
